I need to build a mask around a light pole as it passes in front sign I am compositing. There is so much motion in the clip that I would like to have the mask follow the pole field by field, this is PAL DV footage.
In Commotion this was as easy as viewing the clip in the right mode – how can I do this in AE?

Put the footage into a new comp and set the frame rate of the comp to 60 fields (NTSC) or I guess 50 fields for PAL. Make sure in the intepret footage dialog that you are set to de-interlace your footage. Now take this comp and drop it into a final comp for output (25 fps for PAL)

    Hope this helps
