Good idea to download the guide for the workflow you are using. Go to https://www.avid.com/ama where the workflow guides are listed and do tell you what you need to do.
Another option is to go over to the Get Started Fast forum as a lot of these types of ?’s are asked by those who have moved from older systems to 6.5.
How did your efforts work out Saturday? Did you get it working?

Hi Peter
You really need to check out the Macintosh specifications before you forge ahead… The card we tested and approve with this system si the ATI Radeon HD 57500. No ide what you might experience if you go another route.
Go to the knowledge base and check this out.

The upgrades from MC 5 to MC 5.5 are cheaper than the upgrades from previous versions to MC 5.5. So staying current provides you with a cheaper upgrade option.
Then you need to decide – should you buy the software downlaod or the shippable kit. Software downlaods are cheaper and dont come with the Production Suite of app’s. Those are BCC, AvidDVD, AvidFX, Sorenson Squeeze and Smartsound. If you have say a MC 5 seat and go to MC 5.5 then you probably dont need a new set of the production Suite application so a downlaod is probbly right for you. If however you have an older MC seat like 3.5, then you probably do want the shippable kit for a bit more so you get the udpated app’s as well as MC 5.5.

Job,
Sent your VAT and Pricing feedback to the web/store team earlier today. I’ll let you know when and what I hear back from them.
Actually, there are 3 main warehouse sites that drive all the online store locations. But that doesnt have anything to do wiht the VAT. While Avarto does run the store for us… they take direction from us so this is our issue to attend too.
As soon as I hear I’ll let you know… thanks for emailing me on this as I can’t be “everywhere” and might not have seen this otherwise.

Greg,
Like a few folks have mentioned already you need to chekc the required specifications for MC before you buy anything like another card….
For general guidelines go here:
https://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=365919PC recommendations – go here:
https://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=390767For Mac recommendations – go here:
https://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=362919You should also take a look at the version matrix as this has a lot of informaiton on specific systems.
https://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=267087I dont think it is a good idea to fly blind – best to check what works with what you have and/or what you want to do.

HI there.
There are 2 good forums where most DS user lurk and post.
https://community.avid.com/forums/34.aspx
and….
https://groups.google.com/group/ds-list/topics
The DS crowd is very vocal about their likes and dislikes so post to one of those and I am sure you will get the feedback you need.

Greg,
A lot of the features of MC are showcased in customer based tutorials on community.avid.comSpecifically Douglas Bruce who previously migrated from Liquid to MC has created over 200 tutorials on many of the features.
Here is a good place to start.

Thats too bad had I wish you knew of not only the DS forum on community.avid.com and the DS List where a laundry list of DS editors live and help. Sylvain the product Champ for the DS is also on there all the time. As for MC – there are 3 forums now for that and forums for most other products. I want to say the past is the past but you need to experience the good before you will believe again.
