  • Bob,

Each MC unit comes with a free Service Code to use if the product is registered and you need troubleshooting. However if the issue is installation, setup or SW activation related which your issue with setup seemed to be then the call is free. Always has been – you just press option 2 then option 2 again when calling and you get right through.

[Bob Zelin] “having recently installed an AJA I/O Express with Media Composer 5.5.2, I was very unhappy (as usual with AVID) about having a $200 per incident support phone call to AVID. Which of course, I did not pay. I was not going to inconvenience my friends at AJA to do something that should not be done (support for AVID problems), and so I received my FREE answer from the AVID forum on Creative Cow.”

  • Before you do that let me fill you in on the support costs…
First with every MC bought you get a service access code to use when calling into our hot line to get help. If you need ongoing support you can either buy support for a year whinch includes phone support and software updates – the prices range from $99 for academic to $2495 for a high end MC with Nitris DX and a bunches of prices in between.

If you dont want to go that route – especially if you have been around the Avid before, then you can bnuy individual codes to call in or you can just opt to connect with us on the Community.avid.com site. There are 50 customer moderators/helpers there like here on the Cow assisting plus there are a few of us Avid-ites up there all the time as well helping.

It all boils down to who is there when you NEED the help. Ask people that use each and see.

    Hi Richard,

If you are having trouble – or if anyone is having trouble with the online form on avid.com to upgrade – email me off forum at marianna.montague@avid.com and I can assist you.

Note that once you are able to enter the form info and submit, and it isverified, you receive a coupon code good for use on the Avid Store. If you want to buy face to face – then an Avid reseller or VideoGuys can also help.

    From the Press Release

” The company also announced that it will not have an exhibition booth at the 2008 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention, but plans to be in Las Vegas next April to meet with customers. ”

Just making sure this is clear.

    Hi Tim,

Are you using 2.5 or 2.5.1, 2.5.2 or the recent 2.5.3?

Also, check to make sure you do not have more than one keyspan driver installed. Do you see the deck in the Keyspan control panel?

    Hi there……..

Jamie Fowler just wrote a book called Avid Made Easy which is quite good. You can also try a few on the avid site as well. Go to the https://learn.avid.com/alex/lms and click in the center on the tutorials area ( double click) and watch a few to determine what areas you might need help in.
Once you know, they you can order the right books for the tgopics you need.
