    Hello,

I am looking for any suggestions anyone might have on an Avid book that they found to be extremely helpful and informative.

I have recently been focusing alot of my time editing in FCP and have read numeous books for that platform. I am going back to school and will be immersed in an Avid environment and want to make sure that I am familar with the program and it’s differences again. I have used Avid quite a bit before. I spent 2-3 years working on Avid Xpress Pro, and one year on the Symphony and Composer.

I work well in Avid, just need a refresher course with useful tips and tricks.

Let me know if you have any suggestions, it would be appreciated.

    Hi there……..

Jamie Fowler just wrote a book called Avid Made Easy which is quite good. You can also try a few on the avid site as well. Go to the https://learn.avid.com/alex/lms and click in the center on the tutorials area ( double click) and watch a few to determine what areas you might need help in.
Once you know, they you can order the right books for the tgopics you need.

Go to the NAB book store on line, I picked up “The Avid Handbook 4th Edition” for intermediate techniques. I found it very helpful for me, you might find something else at NAB store, good luck.

when i got a job cutting on fcp, i had to refresh quickly, being an avid editor.

i got a book called something like avid to final cut pro, basicly it went trough all the features that i was used to using in avid, and gave me its equal in fcp, made the transition really easy….

it may be something to look into if your comfortable with fcp.
