  • You might look at DVFilm Maker which can

    1) deinterlace intelligently and also
    2) smooth the 4:1:1 chroma to 4:4:4
    3) enlarge to 1440 x 1080 anamorphic

in one step. It can also batch process clips.

Here is a comparison test between conventional
editing system deinterlacing and DVFilm Maker

If you’re talking about the link files created by Raylight for Mac, https://dvfilm.com/raylight/mac the links are not created by Quicktime, although they are 100% compatible with the quicktime player and FCP. MXF files are not compatible.

(I don’t even think that you can access the DVC ProHD editing codec from PPro on the Mac…it’s FCP only)”

Not an obstacle for Raylight since we have our own DVCPROHD codec.

The Raylight for Mac product will support CS3/Mac as well as FCP in the next release, so you get DVCPROHD in the timeline.

Yes it does, with DVFilm Raylight https://dvfilm.com/raylight

You can drop the MXF files straight into the project bin.

Raylight for Mac can do it (automatically name clips) if you have release 1.05 or later. If you have an older version update it at https://dvfilm.com/update

Only Raylight can do it without recompression
and it has real time playback

  • [Mike Kujbida] ” did a search of “DVCPro HD” on the Sony Vegas forum and came up with the following that may be helpful.
Take a look at the products from DVFilm, specifically Raylight & Raylight Decoder.
Demo versions of each are available.
Good luck with it and please let us know if it works.”

Correct, Raylight DECODER will allow import and editing of
    DVCPROHD quicktimes in Vegas.

For going the other direction, you would need the other
Raylight product, DVFilm Raylight, and export a Raylight
AVI from vegas. This can then be converted into an MXF file with
P2 Maker (a utility included with DVFilm Raylight). The MXF
file is then importable into FCP.

You both might look at Raylight for Mac which will allow
you to bring the MXF files directly into FCP5 or FCP6.

It will remove 24PA (advanced pulldown) from 1080i/60
and from DVCPRO50/24PA as well. See https://dvfilm.com/raylight/mac

It also allows you to automatically name clips from metadata and view metadata in the timeline.

Raylight DECODER is a DVCPROHD decoder for quicktime and it
will allow you to playback and edit DVCPROHD quicktimes
    in Vegas. See https://dvfilm.com/raylight/decoder

It was designed to work with quicktimes created in Final Cut Pro
and also works with quicktimes created by DVRack (OnLocation)
    and Firestore.
