Thanks David. I’ll try exporting from Vegas in a different format and get back to you with the results.

    Cheers,

    Thanks guys.

What you suggest makes perfect sense. Actually what I was really hoping for is some kind of right-click solution, but nevermind! I’m shooting multicam for the first time and my timeline has splits absolutely everywhere. For the sake of housekeeping, I wanted to remove some of them. Since your solution sounds like a little more work, I won’t worry too much.

  • I also found this tip very helpful, although I used Insert from the dropdown menu (wasn’t there when I right clicked).

    Hi,

Thanks! I’d overlooked the fact my preview window was still set to best/quarter. The frozen scene now looks exactly the way I had hoped.

    Cheers,

Thanks very much! I find the whole grouping/ungrouping thing kinda awkward (we shot with two cameras, but are using one track of location sound with lots of cuts) however I’m sure I’ll get used to it.

    Hi,

Does this solution work in VMSP 9.0?

    Thanks,

December 30, 2008 at 11:48 pm in reply to: Rendering lower 3rds from AE into Vegas

    Thanks Sebastien,

I had convinced myself the problem was something I’d done when rendering in After Effects. In fact, after importing into Vegas I had to tell that app the new import was to be used as an alpha channel.

For anyone else in a similar situation: render in AE with RGB+Alpha and then after importing into Vegas right click on the imported file > Properties > Media tab > Set Alpha Channel to Straight (unmatted).

Where it gets confusing is that .psd files imported with an alpha channel from Photoshop don’t need to be flagged in this way.

    Cheers,

    Marcus
