October 9, 2009 at 10:30 pm in reply to: 3D effect with photographs

It depends…. I’ve found out (but is my idea) that thyere is not much point to animate in this way a normal modern foto. The first question an intelligent audience member should make is .. “Why didn’t tou just go around the subjects with a steadycam ?”… The good idea of this tecnique.. to me.. resides in the ability to animate “impossible” photograps.. like famous photos from the past or even famous pictures. This I think is the best way to use this tecnique (and that’s why I called it “Stendhal Effect”)…. You are not creating a normal 2.5 effect.. What’s the point? Now there is 3D! You are giving new life to old materials…
Another nice use… but this is more complicated.. is to apply on video. Needs really a lot of work (I think I saw something good on a CNBC ad some time ago) but the effect is good (you first show the spectator the normal way.. like a steadicam or a parralax movement with a dlly.. and then suddently the picture (still moving) “breaks apart”).

Here is an example of some I’ve done (both foto or video.. but freezing the video not as I said above)
In one (the boat) I added video from another source and it works.
I like the black kid (for the result) and the playground (for the effort I put).. but to me the pictures are more poetic.

October 9, 2009 at 10:06 pm in reply to: Encore Copy Protection

Thanks…. But at present my aim is not to find the best uncopiable format but just to find out why with other softwares (I think older versions of encore) I could do it and not now… I’m sure it worked.. because I couldn’t copy.. I know many softwares are able to take away CSS and other “simple” methods.. still I’m not aiming at the perfect disk.. just trying to get my software to work properly..

By the way.. speaking with a friend who does weddings.. he told me.. what he does is to record 15 extra black minutes at the end of the video and then to tick on the edge between recorded and not recorded data with a soldering iron !!! 🙂 Haven’t tried it yet!

I am having the same problem.. I was able to make with older versions of Encore both “1 gen copy permitted” and “no copy permitted” DVDs (direct burn, no ISO image) but this seems not more possible. Any ideas why?

October 9, 2009 at 5:48 am in reply to: Highlight on video thumbnails in Encore

Thank Jon… yes.. actully it was a double preview bug.

First because I realised that Encore had start to use as a reference a different PSD than mine, a modified copy it made amd kept inside the project folder (so now I work on that one)

Second because all this jumping doesn’t really occur in the final compiled DVD

Also I found out (but I think I have to stay with this).. that my “alpha” highlight layer.. will just be monochromatic. Allthough I made a box with a nice sjade of yellow/orange.. I just get a full colour yellow box.

Finally.. now I have another problem… Inside Encore Flow Chart is fine (both in the flowchart windows and testing the DVD) but the final DVD starts from the menu jumping my intro “first plaY” video. I find the vob track in the TS Folder but instead of being something like VTS1_0 is VTS7_1.

October 8, 2009 at 3:08 pm in reply to: Please help, Encore Blu Ray / DVD Projects?

In theory Adobe Encore has the ability to work and export BluRay and then, from the same project in DVD (it will have to compress footage though).. and Flash also.
But I tried… and had some problems with fields. The DVD I got had fields that were inverted and I couldn’t change settings in Encore.. In the end I had to do 2 separate projects…
    Sorry

October 8, 2009 at 8:01 am in reply to: real time playback

Yes… but it depends on the format you are using…

Premier can play realtime the list of formats you find when you open a Timeline
DVCPRO, DV, XDCAM (in MP4 wrapper not MOV), etc…

  • No.. I am confirming I have the same (I think is the same ) problem. I don’t need it for live webcasting so for me this is a minor issue.. If while editing I see strange flashes is not a big problem. I hope some future driver upgrades will fix the question. I am sorry but I cannot help more.. If your need is for live playback.. surely you should have a more reliable hardware .. but I don’t know what to suggest
