Yes… but it depends on the format you are using…

Premier can play realtime the list of formats you find when you open a Timeline
DVCPRO, DV, XDCAM (in MP4 wrapper not MOV), etc…

It should, but keep in mimd uncompressed HD is about 120 MB per second. If you want multiple layers of uncompressed HD you might want to RAID at least 6 hard drives together.

You can also customize an uncompressed timeline.

we have a san that can play 2 streams of uncompressed 2k footage simultaneously. what i really want is something that can play back dpx sequences in real time. we have a clipster that can do this, but its nightmare to actually use the timeline. final cut hates image sequences so i find it very annoying to use.

can premiere play back image sequences in real time or would i have to render some kind of avi / mov?

in fact i can’t even get it to import the dpx sequence, is this format supported?

also, if i configure the timeline to be uncompressed, should i select ‘desktop’? is it possible to have video monitoring in this mode?

thanks in advance, i am very appreciative of any help offered!
