Stupid question, but an Adobe App that is often overlooked is the Bridge Asset Manager, have you tried it?

Great – all good.

“Clone Drive” is just that, it is a clone, but that is not what you want to make.
Would be interesting to know how much data you are expecting to take across?
And, whether the reason for being selective is because some footage can not be shared with outsiders?

There are software packages out there that can help you copy files, but the ones I use is PC based.
I would suggest that by the time that you’ve got to that point of taking the selected files across, it might just be faster to use Finder (Mac) or Filemanager (PC).

Depending on your set-up and connectivity, maybe a shared cloud-service could work too – I am currently working on a 4K 700GB+ project where we are using Google Drive as shared storage, and local drives for editing. This is a low-budget project, but still more cost-effective than buying SSD drives to share around.

Hey Maria,

There are several PPro version 25 – I have decided to stay on 25.1, as I don’t want “Generative A.I.” to take over my projects.

My advice: DO NOT DELETE ANY FILES, OR PART OF FILES FROM YOUR ORIGINAL CAMERA MEDIA CARDS!
Sorry for shouting, but you need to make copies of your media, or copy the media that you want to work with on to a separate hard-drive. Never delete anything, unless the project is closed and will never return.

Are you Mac or PC based?

Version of PPro that you are using could be important if your colleague is not on the internet?

Make sure that you use your own name in project name and Sequence file name + add year-month-day to the front of it, that way you can share projects, and import timelines, without destroying what you’ve already edited – although that should not be possible, Adobe often works in mysterious ways.

Just a few quick thoughts on your questions, there are smarter people around here who will know better.

Hey Joe,

If your projector is locked at 25fps, then you deliver 25fps.

Do make sure that you have the right “frame size” too.

Also investigate whether you are in Progressive or interlaced mode?

And, then there is the codec and playback, as if the drive can not “feed” the signal fast enough, it may stutter – like if you stream a video at home and it pauses from time to time, because it can’t buffer enough of the video for a smooth playback.

Sounds like it is KONA software.
Out of interest, would an old version of BlackMagic Express work?

The other consideration is to check what version your Sony J30 is?
Some of them don’t have the Digital Outputs installed.
Although, if you are seeing SDI, then there should be SDI.

Don’t know if you’ve looked at the AJA page on the COW?
But this thread might contain nuggets like @BobZelin mentioning Administrator access (Don’t know if that works for Mac):

Hey Gary,

Have you checked the reference?

When you are capturing, is the software controlling the deck, or is it a manual play in?
If manual, what happens if you stop the recording on the Mac, before stopping the tape?
Can you try another recording file format, to work out if that make a difference?
Keep in mind that you are using a IMX VTR, and that the Mac may look at the signal as being IMX, rather than analogue Betacam.

As a test, if you can, maybe try the Composite output, or depending on your Mac, try Firewire?

Having said that, I would suggest that you check your reference and/or reference (sync) settings?
On the VTR, Kona and AJA software.

Hey Van,

There are soo many different places that could be the reason for your slow export.
Everything from processor, to memory, storage and so on.
Are you doing the render on your Dell, or?

And, why MP4!?

Would you not want a master copy export at highest resolution?

It appears that you are trying to render a lot of elements, whilst squeezing it down in size.

I would suggest that you do the Master out first in best codec.
My choice is ProRes 4444 .mov – ProRes HQ might be enough for your purpose. In Davinci Studio you have alot of choice.
Next run off a “copy” or a down-convert of your master file to H265 (if 4K) or H264 if lower than 4K.

By doing the Master in same quality / resolution as your source footage, it should hopefully render faster.
