    Hey Brigitte,

Going from that kind of resolution, you will want to “upscale” it, rather than just putting a small “picture” into a larger frame.

    Check out Video AI 7:
    https://www.topazlabs.com/topaz-video-ai

It also comes with a plugin for Davinci and AE.

    Free trial with WaterMark.
Yes, more expensive than handbrake, but does a lot more than just up scaling.

There are other options worth mentioning, is Rezup from RevisionFX, who also will offer you a trial:
    https://revisionfx.com/products/rezup/

    Hope that this helps?

    Hey Robert,

I don’t think that there ever was a Resolve v19.3?

But you can get Davinci Resolve 19.1.3 here:
    https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/family/davinci-resolve-and-fusion

You need to scroll down the left column to get it.
Becareful not to select the “Studio” version unless that is what you want?

  • Hey Cagdas,

Just an observation: Most if not all here are professionals working for money, at a time where the industry has suffered an extreme downturn across the globe.

John has done these jobs before, you just need to search on him, and you’ll see his kindness and experience.

But if you treat hime like an employee doing the work for what looks like a paid job, then maybe you need to relax a bit, or dig into your pockets to get it dones faster. Right?

Looking at your animation, and John may split that apart in A.E., but the distance and position of the two speakers, you are either going to miniscule animated soundwaves coming out of them, or the soundwaves will have to overlap.

And, I’m sure that you will agree that if you place two loudspeakers, on their own, that close together, you might just have one big mono speaker…

Note that this is an observation, and not a tear down post. As we all often forget that there is rent and other bills to be paid.

    Hey Riya,

That is an open ended question, if there ever was one.

Are you looking for large crowd scenes, or small intimate setups (dinner table etc)?

My recommendation, if you are looking to own, get something small and portable that can run on batteries, and easily be clamped to a shelve or similar.
Don’t skimp on grip gear like gaffa tape, plastic-strips, charging stations, safety chains, filters and so on.
    Have good insurance.

With the above in place, when doing bigger scenes, hire the kit. As you might need a bigger place to live if you buy it.

    Just an opinion.

  • Already an Aiarty software user, but have not used their latest enhancement video app.

    I use Windows 11, I9 Intel 14th Gen, NVidia 4090 and 64GB ram.
Have one project that needs saving 😀

  • Hey Cagdas,

Yes, you can do all of the compositing inside After Effects.
Some of the wave animations should be possible too, although you might need a plugin, or buy it as an 3D object that you import in.
The taking apart stuff and putting back together is likely to be a mix of CAD, 3D software and After Effects.

If After Effects can’t give you all the planes, You may also need something like Mocha Pro or similar for tracking and masking.

    Hope this Helps?

July 5, 2025 at 12:05 pm in reply to: SD Footage Suddenly Pixelated

    Hey Levi,

As you say, you have been doing this daily with no problems. So there is every chance that the following suggestions might not be relevant.

First port of call, just to check that settings have not been reset or altered:

What are the settings for your timeline?
If it is above the “NTSC frame”, like HD or higher, then it could go pixelated.

The other part I would suggest that you check up on is your Hard-Drive and/or SSD.
“Pixelated” could be an early warning signal that you drive is end-of life, if you have been using that too for a very long time. Or, maybe it just has some bad sectors.

Should add to the above that QuickTime on PC and Mac is no longer supported.

ProRes is, but maybe MP4 is better for you in quality and storage space required.

Hope that you find the issue with the pixelated footage.

  • Hey Zach,

Way, way, way back, I observed similar problems on other NLEs – we are talking late 1990’s.
Where the video on the hard-drive, would go darker over time – could not explain why.

In your case, are you using a HDD or SSD drive?
And what is the speed of the drive, including the connection (There is a difference between USB-2 and USB-C / Thunderbolt).
Could be that your drive is fragmented, and by copying the file into one space, that it will work as a faster speed.

There are much smarter people around here who can explain it.
But either you meet “Can not read file” or “File is corrupted”, or it will depending on the file format, leave out details.
Who knows what made it happen, but happy to hear that you have found the issue.
Might be time to do a back-up of everything to a new drive?

    Hey John,

    Great tutorial, thank you.

I used to have a perpetual licence for trapcode.
    Still might have it somewhere.
But the sales department at Maxon didn’t really care for my custom, so now it is no longe C4D, Trapcode, and recently Autograph.
But instead Blender and other apps, as they won’t charge me the kind of money that I was willing to pay Maxon.
And, they don’t have a sales department that turns up 3-weeks late with the question “What do you want?”, when you’ve already told them three times.

I seem to remember a time when Maxon was in the £ 2,000.00 bracket, not it seems like it has dropped below the £ 1,000.00 – could be a promotion, or a permanent state of affairs up against Adobe and other A.I. generative services, general headwinds in the industry with many vfx companies closing or just their own sales department not performing.

For the record, I used to love Red Giant and C4D, even had one Red Giant plug-in save me recently on a job. But these days not really interested, until I am.

As you correctly suggest, there is a free trial, and one can also subscribe on a monthly basis. With a great tutorial like yours, Bahadir is already over half-way there.

  • Hey Zach,

Know it too well with being within reach of finishing a big project, and then there is a curved ball.

Is all of your footage from the same source?

You also mention that you are using different screens, which could make a difference.

But my first point of call would be to check if there is a wrong LUT or similar missing on the import?

I would also export those 8 last scenes out as a HQ flat file (ProRes or similar) to see how they look on import on the desktop PC? (Do check playback on Laptop before taking the file across)

Hope that this helps you get started on identifying the root cause?
