Hey Daniel,

Having similar, if not worse problems with Premiere Pro 2025.

As I have given up on AE, I’ve not used it much.

But in PPro, which may be the same insice AE, trash all of your renders and preferences.
Roll back to AE v25.0 and see how that behaves.
If possible, avoid the Media Encoder and export straight from AE, if you can use that as an interim export format?

Hey Cameron,

Not knowing your specifications, my initial thought is that your screen resolution on the laptop might not give you the full width of PPro?
When using laptops, I always like to have a 24′ or 27′ monitor to work on, or a 16′ breakout screen for the master viewer or timeline.

The other issue worth investigating, is that PPro v 25.3 just doesn’t work the way it should.
It is in many ways a piece of junk, designed for you to use Adobe A.I. coins over that of stable functionality.
It might be worth stepping back to version 25.0 or 25.1, your project should still open on those versions.

Hey Mary,

DO NOT UPGRADE TO PREMIERE PRO 25.3!

It doesn’t work, and Adobe is not minded to fix it.

I’ve just been through two edits (same production) from hell because of Adobe wanting you to use more of their A.I. coins, and have more down-time.

Also, Adobe interfered with the NVidia board in ways that one could not imagine, combined with the A.I. analysis not only of spoken words, but now also of video – a complete project killer.

One example from last week, even if deleting everything out of project, setting new project up, an audio track with only one actor in. Could not export the Wav edits, to one Wav file.
Did everything by the book, including trashing the preferences.
Still, exporter did nothing for 25 mins before crashing the software out.
In the end, I found out that if you export 2 clips at a time, and delete everything else out, it would export. Started including more clips in the export, but still had to delete all the other clips on that audio track.

Sorry, angry post, but Adobe needs a new CEO and to put some effort in to Premiere Pro rather than promoting Adobe Express as being the new PPro.

Stay on v25.1, or better, look at davinci, Vegas, AVID, anything but Adobe Premiere Pro.

Just an opinion, happy to discuss in private.

Not sure that Adobe Premiere Pro should be mixed together with any kind of AI, let alone operating system.

I use a mix of Windows 10 and Windows 11.

We have passed the point of Topaz, fully understand your position.

And no, the German channel would not own the TV Series, most likely they would have had a licence to show it, one that in all likelyhood ran out 25+ years ago.

Setting that aside, why not get highest possible picture quality version of the DVD, and then replace the English audio with your German audio track?

Sorry, but what you are asking is not making sense.

Without a doubt, NAM Tour of Dury is getting a high score on IMDB.
Should be interesting to watch.

But why do you want to convert something that looks like it is a Windows Media Player file 4:3 on a low bandwidth, to HD 16:9?

Why not just order the DVD PAL series from Amazon or similar?

And if you want HD, then starting from PAL video will be much better than what you are working with right now.

PS: Do be careful, as CBS and the production companies will be very protective of their content. There is no such thing “personal usage” if your source has come of the “dark web”.
If you are willing to do the work, I would recommend that you contacted the copyright holders, as they might hire you to do it. Who knows, they might even have 2K digital scan of the 16mm / 35mm, that it was originally shot on.

Yes, it is not cheap, although Topaz does have a cloud version that you can use.

The issue that is the hardest to overcome, is the upscaling.

If I was to try something cost=effective, I would upscale the program to the sixe you want it to be.

Then with a combination of grade and in-NLE sharpen tool, that might land you close enough.
But that depends on where you want the program is going next?

Going from that kind of resolution, you will want to “upscale” it, rather than just putting a small “picture” into a larger frame.
