Thanks Jeff. I’ll be the guinea pig and will report back when I do the upgrade.

Thanks Jeff. Actually it was a she… Pervious to my conversation with Apple, I just assumed I would do a clean install. Thanks for showing me another way with the “Archive and Install” option. I’m waiting to finish a long term project, so hopefully I’ll be ready in a couple of weeks.

Any caveats I should know about using your suggestion?

I’ve actually been impressed with some of the Apple Genius Bar folks on other Pro Apps (albeit not FCP).

  • The keypad is recognized by the MBP, it’s recognized by various programs, including Windows on Parallels AND FCP. However…

When I try to use the numeric keypad for multiclip editing, as I said, it’s weirdness. I can’t use the Apple key as a modifier with the numeric keypad for cutting to angles (as I do with a MacPro). In fact I can’t use ANY modifier keys to do this. I can finally map the cut to video angle to the numeric keypad unmodified, but then it also becomes useable with the Control key. I can’t map Switch to Video angle to a modified key after mapping the cut to command. I’ve tried modifying an existing keyboard template, to the Apple multicam template, and to the default keyboard template. Nothing works properly.

Another strangeness is that when I hit the + key in the viewer or canvas, it activate the numeric field, but then I can’t enter a number.

I’m beginning to think this keypad is just not Mac compatible.

    Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the quick response, I had a feeling that’s what I’d have to do. Per the Seagate box – 7200 RPM.

Six Replies and not one answering her questions (sorry – make that 7 including this one).

Respectfully, instead of editorializing and not answering what she didn’t ask, can’t someone give her a specific answer to her questions about a good $1000 camera and streamclip quality – both answers I’d like to know as well.

FWIW, it might not be suitable broadcast capable, but I would think $1000 would buy a more than decent prosumer/consumer camera.

I haven’t worked with ProRes, and I’m not in front of a work system, but…

-try going into User Prefs and setting “Limit Real Time Video” to 100mb/s

-Start changing the settings on the Sequence RT button. Try Unlimited RT, Dynamic, and Use Playback Settings.

    See what the above helps.

    Good luck

Thanks Rafael, but it didn’t work. Both audio & video would still drift out of sync. David Weiss’ solution did the trick.
