Hi Riske,
I have discovered over the past two years capturing from both the Canon H1 and Sony V1U that batch capture of HDV is unreliable. I can go through several tapes batch capturing with no problems and get to one tape that just won’t capture (can’t find timecode). And as you note there is plenty of preroll time. Sometimes I have to resort to using capture now just to get the media online. Regardless of how the material is captured, I always copy the media files to a backup drive. Essentially I treat it as if it was recorded on card media such as P2 or SxS. This may not help you now, but perhaps in future projects.Lee Berger

It shows up in the Timeline as a red bar on the video and blue on the audio. To my knowledge there is no indication in the bins.
In a clip only the repeated frames have the red bar.

Perhaps you should reconsider your workflow and work in native HDV.

Those settings are only for recording. If you are using the deck for capture none has any effect. I’ve found HDV to be unreliable for Batch Capture. One tape will be fine and another will fail to find the TC. Sometimes I have to use the Capture Now function just to get the stuff into my system. Regardless of how I capture, Batch or Capture Now I back up the media to another drive assuming that a recapture may not work.

I try to make a habit of shooting :10 bars at the end of each setup and day. That way you have something easy to back into if you reload the tape into your camcorder.

OSX 10.x comes the Flip 4 Mac Windows Media Playback component, but not the full Export component. You get enough functionality for a :30 demo. You have to pay for the Flip 4 Mac export component. If you go to your Preferences Pane under Other you’ll see the preferences. Double click it and select the Upgrade tab. Then follow the directions to purchase.
