One strategy is to use the free application Final Cut Rescue
to back up your preferences. That way you can restore an earlier version with all of your favorites. Won’t help you now, but will the next time you need to trash.

Make a copy of your sequence. Lock your music track(s). Delete all of the rest of the clips, leaving just the music tracks. Then export that to an EDL. That should give you clip names with in’s and out’s.

Are you exporting Letterboxed 4:3 or 16:9?
If 4:3 letterbox here is a work flow that has worked for me. I hope it is helpful to you.

Backup your custom FCP preferences, keyboard layouts, plugins, etc. Similarly copy all your custom settings for Motion, DVD Studio Pro, Soundtrack and Compressor settings. They’re located in the Library:Application Support folder on hour root drive and in the user:Library:Preferences:Final Cut Pro User Data. Look around for custom settings and folders from your other applications as well. This will save quite a bit of time after the new install. I just went through this migrating to a new Mac Pro two weeks ago and yesterday when the it refused to boot up.

If you have to render then you may have missed some settings.
In MPEG Stream Clip be sure that in the export dialog you have make the following selections
Compression Apple DV/DVCPRO – NTSC
Quality 100%Be sure you choose Export to QuickTime and not Export to DV

Thanks Rafael,
I checked with Black Magic today and was told that their devices do not incorporate a TBC. Not all A to D converters handle time base errors. The presence of proc amp controls and black burst do not necessarily indicate a TBC function either. Some of the AJA products such as Io do incorporate a TBC.Lee
