    Robert,
If it would help, I can post a 4 min video on all of these and how they are effective and useful.

FCP X is more about examining workflows and adapting or changing them. I’m finding, more and more, that FCP X is actually rather good.

    Robert,

I think the best way you can achieve what you are looking for is to Select the clip (sorry if that’s an old term) then click in the far left corner or press Ctrl+V to open “VIDEO ANIMATION”. Once there, double click on the ‘Compositing Opacity’ section – normally the first one – and then drag the keyframe marker to the right hand side.

My apologies but it’s late and I’m bushed but feel your sense of puzzlement.

    Robert,

I was as bemused as you seem. Have a look at this thread, it helps: https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/344/3006

    Andy,
As ever, FCP proves there is more than one way to ‘skin a cat’. your help is very gratefully appreciated, thank you.

    Brendan,

many thanks for your sanity! I thought that creating the clip into a storyline was the way. Do you know of anyway of centering the transition (a la FCP 7).

The compositing opacity is going to be interesting in the combinations it can be used in. LOL

Getting to really like FCP X – trouble is I’m at a Halfway House in that I like bits of FCP7 and like more and more of FCP X and all the frustration that this can give when moving between the two.

Many thanks anyway, it”l work for me and now I need to practice multiple 4 point masks.

    Regards,

    Hi Carsten,

Just jumping in here as I share the same problem as Alban.

    Qmaster in Compressor 4
Share this computer is checked on with Quickcluster w/ services option

Services – Compressor and Options are to 8
Require services to only be used in managed clusters – not checked

QuickCluster – include unmanaged services from other computers – checked

    Click OK – done

Render out as mp4 with job segmenting checked and my cores are flat on the ground other than 1 of them.

Surely, this should be relatively easy and common-sensical? But I’m scratching my head here as why I don’t see my cluster (virtual one) when I select “This computer plus” and why it’s taking so long that I could probably draw each slide faster.

    thanks Brendan,

I think I was looking for something more ‘visual’ to be able to change the anchors. Oh well, get my calculator out now.

    Martin,

This works a treat! would be better if you could cmd+ select or high light which attributes you wanted to use and then drag and drop of Opt+drop (as in duplicate) to another clip.

BUT, it works and that is good to know. Thank you.
