    Ricky,

I think this is the way things are going. I’ll have a look at this, thank you.

    Thank you Tapio,

    It’s all in the terminology!

    John,

I think it was me that was obviously not taking note of your steps. It works. Thank you but I will say I liked the command>C and Option>V shortcuts a lot better – but then again, I haven’t been using FCP X enough, yet.

    Many thanks…

    John,

Tried the method you listed above and I can’t seem to copy and paste the attributes for the video..and I now seem to be able to crash ‘on-demand’ FCP X…

I’ll go and play some more, methinks. Any help, please?

July 6, 2011 at 2:12 pm in reply to: Transitions in FCP X – missing?

    Tom,

Maybe not in the exact word, but playing around with the settings
    Cross Dissolve>Look>dark
    Cross Dissolve>Amount>75

This is coming very very close.

It would be nice to be able to save these once you have them set up, personally. You probably can, I simply haven’t played enough.

Also, knowing that “Cross Dissolve” is probably the most popular dissolve, maybe the FCP dev group at Apple could simply rename it ‘Dissolve” and then let there be all of the options inside the jump box? (Bit like the Ken Burns effect?

My ten cents on what is becoming a rather delightful journey through a new application,

    Thanks Tom,

I’m getting used to FCP X and like what I can see ‘under the hood’ and the rest will come when it comes but in the meantime, I like this new FCP (and no, I’ve never used iMovie but that’s an option I can suggest to people!)

    Michael,
Apologies about the extreme delay and thank you for your advice earlier. I’m using a GoPro camera set to take an image every 3 seconds.
I believe I’ve solved one of the issues I have though – that’s increasing the time taken for each shot.

  • I work extensively with CS Studio and Cmac and FCP and I believe I might have a solution for you.

January 30, 2011 at 9:35 pm in reply to: Adding a TCG filter in FCP or Compressor…

I created a WMV with F4M with the timecode generator ‘ON’ in compressor and it came out as 90meg.
Doing the same operation with the same codec BUT with the timecode Generator “OFF” returned a 60meg file…..

I just wish I could get it down even smaller – without sacrificing quality!!! (but that’s another day and another battle)

    Many thanks though, Shane….

    Shane,
Apologies for coming back to this topic again and I will take it on the chin or mouse or wherever, if I’m speaking rubbish but, having followed your tutorials on adding a timecode in Compressor, I’m finding the finished file is proportionally larger than if there was no timecode added or if this was done in FCP. Is this expected or is there something else that I should knuckle down and learn, please?
