Thanks Shane – I’m going from one internal drive to another so at least I don’t have the bus slow down. As long as it isn’t tweaking the quality of the footage I’m good. I’ve never brought MXF into MOV before. =)

It seems to be moving through them….I guess everything good as long as FCP isn’t downgrading the quality on the clips. I read that it just rewraps them and leaves them full rez DVCPRO HD. *fingers crossed*

Found the render files and deleted them. Rendered again. Same problem. Did a mix down….same issue. Really strange!

Thanks John – how do you trash audio renders? Sorry….I’m new to Final Cut. In Avid I didn’t have to render audio when I put it in the timeline. But I’m assuming that is because on import it was converted to an aiff while Final Cut leaves it as MP3?

Yeah, it plays fine in the clip monitor. That’s the weird thing. This is I think 23.976 footage from a panny HVX200. not sure if i need to do something special on audio import? I know in Avid I used to have to set audio import by project, but Avid always made its own MXF or OMF files. Final Cut doesn’t seem to do that?

A did it – THANK YOU! I was having to exit Final Cut and reopen the app to get out. =|
Now if I can just figure out how to edit the tail and start of two clips together in the sequence at once without going into that weird tool I’ll be doing good!

And wow…just got a proactive email from Calibrated after they saw my forum post offering to help out. Impressive!

Thanks guys. I think I figured it out – these were MXF files from a Panny that didn’t have that txt file for FCP. Blah, blah I had to purchase Calibrated to read them (shane, you helped me with that).
Last week had to reinstall Snow Leopard which of course did away with Calibrated. I think that is why FCP will not show anything now. It does the reconnect, but then doesn’t show video.
Whew….good. At least there is a reason. =) THANKS.

hey thanks – this has turned into a nightmare.
how do you setup the sequence for that and what is the best codec for bringing into Final Cut? Yesterday I was encoding them as Prores 422 and three of them worked but still required rendering times of 20 minutes per hour of footage or so.
The last three just crash Final Cut and Compressor when sending to compressor and/or fail in compressor.
Dying here….thought Apple codecs would mean a smooth ride. Not so much.
