  • How can one exit the Slip Tool

I did search on this, but didn’t get anything.

Getting used to the way slip works in Final Cut and you know….not bad. I kinda even like it more than Avid! Shocker.

Problem: once I hit “S” to get into slip mode, it stays there. So it is no longer in “segment mode” if you will. I have to hold Command down to move clips in the timeline now – cannot get Slip to go away.

    Anyone seen this?

I’m on FCP7 with Snow Leopard and a Mac Pro. THANKS.

You have to switch to another tool.

A did it – THANK YOU! I was having to exit Final Cut and reopen the app to get out. =|

Now if I can just figure out how to edit the tail and start of two clips together in the sequence at once without going into that weird tool I’ll be doing good!

Hit r, select the cut, and drag. Then hit a to select your selection tool again.

I think you are talking about the Roll tool – press R to select the tool, then click and drag on the edit point to simultaneously ‘roll’ the in/out of the two clips.

You can also select the edit point and press , and . to roll the edit one frame at a time to the left or right, or press Shift+, or Shit+. to roll 5 frames (you can change that number in the menu User Preferences>Editing>Multi-frame trim size)

    Hope that’s what you’re after!

Kyler, don’t be hesitant to search the manual as well as this forum.

Sound advice, although I must admit it’s difficult to use the manual if you don’t know the name of the tool you’re looking for, as is the case of the original poster.
