September 10, 2013 at 8:02 am in reply to: Announcing the October 2013 Pro Video Tools CC Update!I feel the excitement Dave. Adding adrenilin to Speedgrade makes my day. I can’t wait for these new improvements to roll out next month. I thank the Adobe CC team for listening and delivering the goods.

The SDI output from the Sony EX3 is 1080i. So keep in mind the video workflow is interlaced. If it’s looking soft then examine the sequence setting in your NLE to make sure it is UFF interlace and NOT progressive.

This is a killer graphics card for anything Adobe CC. In Premiere Pro CC the GTX 680 MAC performance is stunning. Be sure you have both the NVidia driver 313.01.02f01 (current as of 8/28/13) AND the NVidia CUDA driver 5.5.25 (current as of 8/28/13).
The NVidia driver will install a driver manager in the OS X system preferences. The driver manager gives you the option to switch between the NVidia driver, or Apple’s built-in OS X Mountain Lion driver for NVidia cards. Once installed, icons for both the NVidia driver manager, and the CUDA driver will appear in the system prefs panel. You must be running Mountain Lion 10.8.4. Hope this helps.Kuhnen Brown

I was under the impression dual system sound meant two sources. Were the scenes slated with time code? I think Premiere’s option gives you the choice to sync with time code reference. Too bad you are working without sound, or this would be a cinch.

There are a small number of timeline features sacrificed with merged clips. The metadata issue you are experiencing is one of them. Solution? Avoid merging. Plural Eyes (2 or 3) will sync your audio tracks and leave in tact all timeline features.

August 25, 2013 at 1:18 am in reply to: BMD Hyperdeck, AJA Ki Pro, SoundDesign Pix or AtomOS Samurai? To answer your question, no the Display feature on the BMD Shuttle2 has yet to be enabled. I also use the Shuttle 2 and like the ProRes HQ recordings. I capture from the SDI output from Sony EX3 cam which is 1080i. You should check your Sony cam menu to see what the SDI output is to avoid any surprises.

Thanks Craig. I’ll start sampling the various settings and post successful recipes. Episode’s edge detection is one part of the formula I need to learn and where I will focus.

Adobe Bridge also has a favorites panel. And it can ‘place’ selected images with one click into Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator which is cool. Premiere Pro Cc latest update allows drag/drop from Bridge to any folder in the project panel.

Steve Brame: “Still, still, STILL no ability to save custom dissolve presets”
We have had great success with the Boris RED transition plug-in. It works nicely with PPCC, comes with presets in gradients, rays, blurs, swish pans, soft wipes, to name a few. Create your own dissolves using the stand alone interface and save them to the same library as the presets. So painless.
I agree with all you say about the new Premiere Pro features. Regarding editing finesse, Adobe delivered. Much easier to move around on the timeline.Kuhnen Brown
