I can relate to your Mocha unfamiliarity. Be aware that Mocha is now a plug-in effect inside of AE. In my case it requires a learning curve. Ben Brownlee is the Boris FX training guru, and got me up to speed in no time on the new Mocha AE paradigm. Its worth checking into.

Thanks Jon,
When using RED 5.6 inside my host (Adobe Premiere CC 2017), it is flawless. I use it both as a filter, and I often use the RED transition plug-in.RED is only unstable when I use it as a stand-alone, outside the host. Thanks for having me check up on that. And it appears to crash when I change the workspace from Standard to Library Browser.
This leads me to another question: does this version of RED NOT allow moving individual windows to a second monitor? When I try to customize the workspace, I am confined to one monitor./
Thanks for your help.

Good news Jon,
When working with 3D Plane shape text, my RED OpenGL displays the type correctly. Adding 3D Line Art vector text is what stumps my graphics card with distorted display. Like I said earlier this OGL issue is with text only.
So how about that?
Thanks for your help on this.

Great questions Jon,
You are correct, this issue is about Open GL. I am using RED stand-alone for my work. The text is in its own track, and not part of a container.
1. Start with OpenGL mode OFF.
2. Select the Add Vector Text icon to open a new track
3. Enter type in the text window and Update.
4. Text looks fine in the composite window. The shape track scale is 100 percent.
5. Under Preview menu, select OpenGL mode to ON (any of the caching selections).
6. In the Composite window the Text is now blown way out of scaleYou should also know this behavior appears to only happen with Text. The graphics tracks in the comp are not affected/distorted when using OpenGL. My GTX 680 is passing the RED test, but I still wonder if this card is the problem.
Thanks for helping,

I use BCC9 on my Mac in both Premiere (2014) and AE (2014. Very compatible. Having a NVidia CUDA card is a benefit for some of the effects.

Update to my post with additional info. I have two instances of Adobe Premiere Pro on my computer: they are the new CC 2014, and the previous CC from 2013. Adobe recommends retaining both the old and new versions. When I installed the RED 5.5 update, it attached itself to the old Premiere Pro from 2013, but did NOT get attached to the new Premiere Pro CC 2014. Once again, can you help me out here.
Thanks,

I shoot in 1080p with the Blackmagic shuttle2 recorder which captures Prores HQ. I also edit in a 1080p timeline. Your timeline should match the resolution of your camera footage. If you shoot slomo at 720p then the tmeline sequence should be 720p. The sequence should also match the frame rate of your wedding footage.
Prores will maintain quality during edit. H264 is okay to use for delivery, like to Youtube.
You have a good camera so capture the best quality. Your wedding cliens will thank you for it. -

February 11, 2014 at 7:20 am in reply to: After Effects 11.0.4 crashing on Mavericks 10.9.1 – Any solutions?Matrox has not released a driver yet for Mavericks and they recommend not upgrading to Mavericks is you still have the Mountain Lion driver installed.
Hopefully they will have a Mavericks driver soon but they are never in a hurry.
