  • After Effects 11.0.4 crashing on Mavericks 10.9.1 – Any solutions?

Posted by Peter Wiley on February 10, 2014 at 5:05 pm

I cannot run After Effects 11.0.4 using Mac OS 10.9.1 After Effects is crashing before it opens completely.

It produces an “After Effects Alert” that says:

    Last log message was: <140735176479504> <5> /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/dynamiclink/CS6/dynamiclinkmanager.app
    .

A crash log is then generated.

This is an urgent issue because client work is waiting on it.

Anyone have any idea what’s wrong? Work arounds?

    I don’t have that issue. 11.04 runs in 10.9.1

    Have you tried repairing permissions?

    Thanks Ridley.

Repairing permissions, the first thing tried, did not work.

After studying the crash reports, we uninstalled MATROX utilities and AE booted and is running fine for the moment.

Interestingly, uninstalling the MATROX utilities also solved issues with Black Magic plugins in Premiere Pro.

Matrox has not released a driver yet for Mavericks and they recommend not upgrading to Mavericks is you still have the Mountain Lion driver installed.
Hopefully they will have a Mavericks driver soon but they are never in a hurry.

    Bummer.

Thanks for the information Kuhnen. It’s not so easy to find on the Matrox website. I guess we missed the press release/timely email from Matrox with that advice.

Fortunately all we’re really using the Matrox device for anymore is accelerated H264 compression, so we can live with the situation for now.
