You can Cut and use DL them use AME to encode the final version.
You can cut and export the video in a higher res codec to AE, add GFX then export directly from the AE render que
Render out just the sections that you need from AE and then cut into your PrPro sequence and export through AME.
It really sounds like your encoding settings are out of whack. Try setting your h.246 bitrate in ame to CBR and less then 7Mbps
If AE is screwing with the file you can render out in the animation codec and then encode your web version from PrPro via AME.
I hope that is not too confusing, but if your workflow is set up correctly and your encode settings are correct you should not be seeing choppy video.

Everything looks good on your output, AME does not give you many choices to change parameters on output. Your limit bit rate is high, I would hold max to 8 or less, that is just me however.
Are the dropped frames during transitions, quick movement, the beginning of still frames( pics) and have you exported with a different codec and experienced the same results. I would suggest encoding a Prores 422HQ and seeing if you can tell any difference.
Are your deliverable specs Prores4444?

Are you encoding the video through AME? How are you exporting the video to Prores4444. If you export to another prores flavor do you see the same result? Prores 422 (HQ), prores 422? What is your encoding data rate?
Lots of questions few answers here without knowing your workflow. If you set the data rate to high the final file may not be able to be played back smoothly because of huge data spikes in the file which would cause dropped frames. Also unless you are outputting for a 4K delivery you gain no advantage encoding to 4444 over 422 (HQ)

I have seen this happen only once and it was a result of a bad PrPro install. If rebooting and then repairing your permissions does not help, you can try to troubleshoot by opening another project to see if the problem persists.
If it does then you can troubleshoot further to see if it works in the Root user or you could just uninstall the app and then re-install following the directions very carefully. More than likely though it is a conflict with an output or other connected device, card, monitor drive ect. and Walters first recommendation will fix it.

Staart migrating everything over to TB. If you still need the ESATA connectivity on of the mini TB to ESATA adaptors or the TB dock from sonnet may be worth looking into

Hey Nick,
Just install your card and then and repair permissions if you are on a mac, If on a PC someone else might be of more help. Yes run AAM to make sure you have the latest ver. of PrPro.
I am not sure about your second question. Are you talking about the txt file that give instructions to the camera. on the t3i you did have to hack the camera to make it work with FCP7, but i am pretty sure that your files will work just fine with PrPro without having to alter anything on the camera.

I have a US3D that has been in service for a year, IT did have to go back for a replacement for the HDMI input but that was not due to the heat. IT does get hot enough to cook an egg and that is partialy why using the aluminum chassis on that unit was a good Idea to help dissipate some of it.
I have had it in enclosed spaces and on a wire rack during uses and sometimes running for up to 16hrs straight without problems. Just be sure to bring along some oven mitts 🙂
There was a review that I saw a few months back comparing the US3D to the the IOxt and when measured with a laser thermometer the AJA unit actually runs hotter. But perceptibly the US3D feels hotter because of the aluminum enclosure.

Try to use the h.264 codec instead of the Mpeg2, you will get better results from that for sure. And play around with your Anti-Aliasing filters to reduce the Jaggies and use the Anti-aliasing settings in your post workflow, especially if the text is coming from photoshop, that will help reduce the Jaggies. You can also use a small amount of motion blur, and remember to render out your your text or video at the highest quality render settings.
Also make sure that the text is wide or bold enough to compress well, edges and details of small text can be problematic.

Is your text moving or static? what is the bit depth of your original text files? What settings specifically are you using to encode.
Could be a number of things, text and straight lines are very hard to compress well so you need to massage your settings until you get something that looks acceptable.
A workflow tip would to just encode a 10 sec clip to use for adjusting your encoding settings. If you can upload a screen shot of your setting that might help.

A quick workaround would be to define you Work area, add edit on all tracks at the head and tail then select all the tracks and copy them into the ne sequence. Sounds like a lot but could be done very quickly.
