Blu-ray disc correct? DVD video disc do not support file sizes this large, and why use Toast11 when you have Encore available?

I read that he is delivering a DVD video disc so yes MPEG2-DVD will be your preset of choice. DVD studio pro does not compress the file but will multi-plex the mpeg 2 video file and the audio file (you should set this to Dolby BTW) And no you do not get the option to use a closed GOP in AME

Here is your optimal workflow and I would start with a 10 sec to 1 min sequence so you will not have to wait forever to see if you have a successful encode.

    1. export from AME using your desired settings with the MPEG-DVD preset. If your program is longer than an hour then use VBR with a bitrate lower than 6 if closer to 2 hours use 4.5. Do not multiplex with AME, with this setting choose Dolby as your audio codec and it will export a separate file.

After it is complete, import both those files into DVDSP they should be exactly the same length, add you chapter markers dual layer break point, angles, menus or whatever else you have to throw in on the disk and then build the disk. If you have any questions about the DVDSP side of the process I would suggest asking in that forum as you will most likely find some really good help.

Now if that sounds like to much trouble you can always export a Prores 422 HQ file and dump that into Apple compressor. the output from compressor already has meta data included for DVDSP and will not take as long to queue once it is imported.

    (EDIT)

I just re read your OP and I would export each angle out of PrPro as a ProRes and then compress with compressor for work in DVDSP creating a multi-angle disk. Not sure how Encore handles that or if it is possible. I am not seeing any advanced authoring options for Multi angle

  • Are you seeing the gradient on your computer monitor or broadcast monitor and are you sure either has a 10 bit panel. Are you delivering for film of broadcast or web? because most folks if not viewing in a theater but rather their home set or computer monitor will actually be viewing an 8bit signal. If you want to see the gradient with as little banding as possible you will need to use an i/o card with 10 bit processing to a 10 bit panel.

+1 to Alex’s comments. I would also like to add if you are doing a ton of card based offloads you might want to consider Shot put pro. Also if you rename in bridge ect. it will retain the link to the original filename.

I for one try to make it a habit to give every file a unique name based on the project, because who wants to do a search for MVI_1008.Mov and if you do find it will it be the correct one. So if you are loggin in Prelude change the file name there instead of the finder, that way if you ever need to go back to the original card backup you will still be able to associate the media with the original filenames from the card.

  • Is there a reason that you are encoding to DNXxHD and then re encoding to your deliverable H.264?

Try exporting the deliverable media right from the timeline to AME and use try the main profile at 4.2. Just export a small section of the troubled area so you can quickly troubleshoot the setting. Once you have nailed the settings export the whole enchilada. There is no reason with AME to encode to an intermediate codec before encoding your deliverable.

  • Ah, you are exporting your video as well, that is why it is taking such a long time as it prepares your video for audition. You will want to use the reference setting if that is quicker. Edit in Audition creates an XML file but i really am not sure what it is doing with the video as it seems to be encoding the video for use in audition, maybe someone else can clarify.

The XML file lives in the Adobe Premiere Pro6.0ProjectsAdobe Audition Interchange folder there may be a problem with the default file path or it may just be too slow a data transfer rate.

Try changing the path for the xml file and see if that helps.

  • Have you tried rending it out to a different codec to see if the export has the same characteristics? It’s just an artifact from a poor encoding pass and AME is making up for information that it missed or could not read.

Unfortunately while AME is quick and does a fairly decent job at most encoding jobs there are not a lot of options to really dig in a customize your settings.

Are you using CBR or VBR? Did you start with a preset? What are your bit rate settings and profile level ect?

You can also check your highlight level on the scope to make sure it is legal, not a necessity but can hurt.

    HI Mark,

I dont ever use the multi cam sequences but this is how it would be done.

Create your multi-cam sequence and the select open in timeline and your sequence will open. Just select the layer you would like to add the CC to open in the source window and then drag the cc filter to the clip and CC away. Then run through and edit the sequence.

May 17, 2013 at 2:29 pm in reply to: Error Message – OS or Pr? And What To Do?

    Not the OS.

Have you tried copying the sequence and then cut and pasting the contents of the timeline into a new sequence? I am willing to bet it is related to something gone haywire with PrPro
I seem to remember seeing something similar to that in the past but it was in conjunction with a host of other problems that were solved with a fresh install so I never narrowed it down.

  • How are you trying to send your audio to audition, and are you creating the OMF out of Audition or creating it from PrPro “export OMF”

You indicated that you are using “export” but the quickest way is to select the “Edit in Adobe Audition” from the Edit Menu.
