Thanks guys. As you may have surmised, I’m not a ‘skilled cameraperson’! which is why I had the EX3 and the HPX3000 went with someone who knew what they were doing!
I found this on wikipedia….
Like many CMOS-based cameras, images captured by the Red One show rolling shutter artifacts. These occur because data is read from the sensor line by line over a short period of time, rather than all at once, so each frame in an image sequence does not actually represent a single instant in time. And it’s a real concern because the next phase of this project is a multi-camera Red shoot. I’m now re-thinking that and will have to talk it over with the DP. I may get away with it as it’s a controlled lighting environment but it’s definitely been an eye opener.

Red on Grey is a rather unfortunate colour combination. If it’s none of the things suggested previously I would suggest it might be the red text. Can you try it in another colour…say, white? It may very well be it’s just a limitation of Standard Def TV signals. Must be very frustrating for you with a client looking on.

I export OMF’s from Avid to Logic 8 all the time. OMF 2.0, embedded media and non-rendered dissolves/fades. Give it a try. Logic 7 was utterly useless for OMF imports unless I imported them into Pro Tools first then re-exported them… but so far Logic 8 is behaving itself for me.

Are your titles soft when playing or just when you you’re parked on a frame? If they’re soft only when stationary then there’s probably no problem… you’re just viewing a single field.

Definitely a deck issue…. but down the line it is likely a broadcaster may reject the master if VITC and LTC don’t match.

Are you applying any sort of DVE/Resize to the title? That will do it every time. Try making the title bigger than you need it to be and then sizing it down to the desired size.

That’s what I thought. Once I get clear of this deadline I’ll sit down and do some reading on the subject.

I’m keen to hear an answer here too…
I shot a few hours of footage recently on an HPX-3000 as well as an EX3, all at 1920×1080 50i. I’ve been so swamped with work that I haven’t even had time to try and get it all into AVID. I’m running MC2.8 on mac but awaiting delivery of 3.0.
Any experience shared would be appreciated.

There are only a handful of facilities authorised to encode and upload video content for the itunes store, assuming you have contracts with Apple to do so. Bitmax in LA are the guys I use to supply my content. Their preferred delivery method is on Digi Beta or HD Cam.
