So what about someone who just paid full price for a new Mojo DX system this week? Not happy.

Do you have any firewire devices attached when you get this error?
I use my system for recording music and vo as well and us a firewire audio i/o box. If I leave it connected while running Avid I get the same message as you. It sucks big time that Avid can’t handle this, even when running DX hardware.

And the safe colour effect does not fix gamut errors either.

What OS is your mac running?

Even if you had the full 32 gigs of ram possible on the new macs I’m pretty sure Avid will only make use of 3 or 4. It doesn’t draw down on more ram as the project gets more complex.

I find Avid’s media tool still misses some media and have always found it top be less than accurate. I use Media Mover to isolate the project’s media files and then back up to hard drive. I would like to go to DLT but the initial buy in cost ($6k aud) is prohibitive at the moment.

Thanks for the input here guys. The camera in question was a rental so I don’t have it at hand to do any tests. The lights in the shot are Martin Mac 2000 profiles. They don’t run through a dimmer board but they do have an internal shutter/dimming mechanism.

The EX3 was a budget call on my part. I originally had 2 HPX3000’s booked but had to trim some $$$ for the weekend. It’s a bitter pill for sure but I’ve learned a lot from it.

Converting to SD and exporting an OMF from there does work. I did it for a sound studio that was running a Fairlight. No problems.
