  • Creating an OMF in 1080p/23.976 project

I’ve just started my first job working in Avid HD project. From what I understand you cannot create OMF’s in this Avid HD realm. A tech I spoke with suggested I temporally change to project to SD, export my embedded OMF, then switch back to HD. Has anyone performed this workflow? Does it work? Are there pitfalls to be aware of?

    thanks in advance!

I’ve heard it was done. However, if you are going to be sending stuff to ProTools, you may just as well create an AAF export rather than OMF, and keep your media in MXF. Works just fine with DigiTranslator on the ProTools side.

Converting to SD and exporting an OMF from there does work. I did it for a sound studio that was running a Fairlight. No problems.
