Hi Felipe,
Regarding the cart fliping issue, I believe it can be resolved by enabling the Tangential option in Align to Spline, then copying track and move it vertically above the cars, then dragging and dropping it into the Rail path (I will include a screen recording of this). As for the second issue, I think it requires the file checking (even a simplified version) along with a screen recording demonstrating the problem. hope this will be helpful.

If I understand the issues correctly, I think you could accomplish this using a parallel-projection camera with the “Align Workplane to Selection” tool. I’ve attempted to explain the method in the screen recording attached below; I hope this is helpful.

I think what you want is a straight-line vapor trail, not the kind of smoke you get. Below, I’ve included a video link demonstrating how to control the smoke movement using a Pyro Emitter tag. You could achieve the same effect by changing some settings, or perhaps it would be easier for you to use an Emitter with a suitable material. However, the destinate Spline only sumulates the source one in the soft interpolation tangent, not in the hard, this problem doesn’t exist with the bake as Alembic as you could see in the screen recording, so I believe it remains better than point cache tag with Spline. Thanks again; this discussion has clarified several subtle points regarding this trick. I think users who will follow this will find everythings clear and easy to understand.

I’ll come back later to investigate the cause, but I have an effective solution for this, and I use it successfully, especially when there’s no time to check the typology. you could convert the edges to Spline and then activate Spline in the tag as in the screen recording below. I hope this is helpful.

Thank you for sharing this with us! Both methods work with polygons, whether using bake as Alembic or Point Cash Tag, and the Tag might have some advantages, such as not needing reference files. However, in Brian’s case, where he wants to apply this to a Spline, the Tag doesn’t seem to work, so we have no choice but to use bake as Alembic, as in the screen recording below.
