  • Modern day alternatives to TCAStudio’s SteadyBAKE and plaMATE? (not NitroBake)

I need to bake some pretty complex hierarchies into PLA animation. Nested generator objects, tons of deformers, baked dynamics, time remapped animation, the whole nine yards. In the past, TCA Studio’s SteadyBAKE+plaMATE could have done this with one click. Unfortunately, the plugin hasn’t been updated in a very long time and no longer works with current versions of C4D.

I am aware of NitroBake, but it is my last resort. The last time I used it, I had to carefully break down my hierarchies piece by piece to get the result I wanted and I overall found the plugin very cumbersome. I’m just curious what else is out there.

    Hi Eddy,

It’s supposed you used bake as Alambic or exported to fbx but it didn’t work for you, especially with the Deformers in your scene. I think without a plugin you might be able to do it throught the dopesheet and the ‘bake objects’ option. I tried to explain this in the screen recording below; I hope this is helpful.

The basic ‘bake objects’ command in the dope sheet doesn’t work for such an extensive hierarchy. It’s pretty weak sauce in general…

Regarding the hierarchy, you can put everthing under a Connect Object and then perform the operation as shown in the screen recording below. We can say that this solution is weak if there’s a way to do this with a single click, like some plugins. Even plugins might need some adjustments to work properly. Therefore, I think baking using “Bake Object” in the dopesheet is one of the best methods so far and has solved problems for many people on this forum and elsewhere. Please share with us if you find any other more effective methods.

Ah, I probably should have mentioned these hierarchies are rife with mograph. If you have a moment today, would you take a look at the attached file? I think I will just have to rearrange some stuff and use NitroBake, but it’d be really cool if I could use Bake Object somehow.

With pleasure, Eddy! Since you’re using Cloth Object, we can do this using Bake as Alambic and then extract the keyframing using Bake Object. I try to explained this in the screen recording below; I hope this is what you’re looking for.
