Not sure why you want to view the waveform on the source side when you could look at it on the timeline.

Just click the twirly/triangle on the audio track that has the music bed on it. You can also float over the bottom edge of that track and then click and drag down to make a huge waveform display there, and find your beat.

    Good luck!

Weirdly – I don’t think there is a default (other than lifetime first use values.) Anyone who’s never used AUTO-TRACE want to tell us what they are?

    Select your layer.

In top LAYER menu, select AUTO-TRACE
    Make sure PREVIEW is checked.
Make sure APPLY TO NEW LAYER is checked.
Adjust settings ’til strokes are where you want them.
    Click OK.
When done, turn off original (lower) layer.
Put a new light colored solid under the top layer.
    Select top layer again.
Add a EFFECT>GENERATE>SCRIBBLE to that layer
    Set it to SCRIBBLE>ALL MASKS
Change it to a dark color.
Reduce parameters until you get the stroke look you want.

I’ve made an updated version of the very useful Catfish automatic supers maker.

Generally, the Catfish automatic supers maker lets you create a bunch of matching comps out of a text file and one template comp. More info here:
    https://www.aenhancers.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1083

I’ve modded it to run under AE CS5.

I’ve also added a feature that let’s you select which element of your text file will become your comp name.

This can be useful if you are building 3rds for CSPAN and everybody’s title is “Congressman,” you don’t want all the comps named the same. Or if you’re doing temperature/location cards for the Weather channel, it’s more useful to have the comps named “Eugene”, and “Tulsa” rather than “54” and “65”

See the ReadMe in the .ZIP

All credit goes Steve Nicholson who did the original code and Koby G. who modded it to handle 3 lines of copy.

I haven’t been able to do realistic cracks solely inside C4D but one thing you might try is this:

Assuming you don’t need real deep cracks in your geometry, you could get away with texture and bump mapping ‘real’ cracks into your surface.

Take or find a photo of real cracks. Then, in an appropriate program (like AE) wipe the cracks in from the center and save this animation.

Use this file as a texture and as a bump map and you will get nice spreading cracks.

    Good luck…

    Hilarious!

You forgot: “Leave the lens off, cover the hole with blackwrap, and poke a pinhole in it!”

Also, at the end of this tut:
3D City he does a “drops on the lens” trick. Don’t know if it’s the same as Aharon’s method.

You can see them clearly in the splash page: (no pun intended)

I agree with the “CC Scatterize” recommendation.

Also, very easy to loop. Just keep increasing and decreasing the SCATTER value.

May 10, 2010 at 5:35 am in reply to: Adobe after effects CS3 plugins into CS5

…there are however 2 bits of good news on this:

    1. Adobe is including a free old 32 bit version with your CS5 purchase. So if you absolutely have to use a plug-in, you could use that.

    2. Scripts (at least the ones I’ve tried so far) seem to work fine in 64 bit CS5 AE.
