Hello, I’m wondering if anyone has some neat scripts or hints on how to batch input text, to relevant fields, in After Effects. My channel is about to add a business section to its daily news show, and I have designed a nice layout for the information… but as we all know, entering text into after effects can be a real pain, even when copy and pasting and I am not always here so would love to set up a document that an intern can copy and paste to, which After effects can read, then I or someone suitable can open After effects and render it off. I think I once heard of a script that can do this but it has been lost in my internet traffic!!

    Much obliged.

I’ve made an updated version of the very useful Catfish automatic supers maker.

Generally, the Catfish automatic supers maker lets you create a bunch of matching comps out of a text file and one template comp. More info here:

I’ve modded it to run under AE CS5.

I’ve also added a feature that let’s you select which element of your text file will become your comp name.

This can be useful if you are building 3rds for CSPAN and everybody’s title is “Congressman,” you don’t want all the comps named the same. Or if you’re doing temperature/location cards for the Weather channel, it’s more useful to have the comps named “Eugene”, and “Tulsa” rather than “54” and “65”

See the ReadMe in the .ZIP

All credit goes Steve Nicholson who did the original code and Koby G. who modded it to handle 3 lines of copy.
