I’ve encountered the same problem…When extensively tweaking audio levels, etc. I enlarge the track view to its maximun height. That way at least the clip names appear above the waveform and don’t cover it.

Point well taken. I’ll do just that.
    Thanks for the tip.

Thanks all. That sounds like something Apple should fix. I’ll report it. Thanks for the suggestions. In fact I’m putting in a solid black color for now. At least I can vary the length as necessary, the only drawback is that when it comes time to output to tape it needs to be rendered (green line above clip). Not a big problem, but nonetheless a needless step.
    Thanks again.

I tried various export possibilities for M100 bins, but didn’t find anything that worked for me. My work around was placing the clips on a timeline and exporting the program as a CMX EDL. That works. Hope this helps, until you find a better solution.

Thanks for the input, Lee. I have to admit that my strength lies in editing. Wrongly I haven’t delved into the more technical hardware side of things as for example the RAID admin. I have never used it, as the Apple people that set up my system said it wasn’t necessary. (I’m sure more than anything as a precaution to not mess things up as perhaps click-happy clients may have done in their experience.) I opened it up as you suggest and When I click add system, all the boxes are completely blank. My RAID doesn’t show up… I’ll have to look into my documentation to see how to proceed. Thanks for the heads up.

That has happened to me on two isolated occasions. I called the Apple contact and he told me to pull the plug. So I took a deep breath and did just that….with no apparent harm. As I say that has happened to me only twice and I’ve solved in this kind of barbaric way…I’ve got over a terabyte of data and encountered no problems. As I understand it, harm can come to the disks if it gets an incoming power hit, not an outgoing power outage.

Just for the record, I tried dragging the icon to the browser as opposed o the timeline and I get an error message “unknown file”.

January 20, 2007 at 9:52 am in reply to: Field Dominance problem- Motion to FCP

I do have that setting set to upper in Motion… Hmmm… I wonder if the problem lies in FCP? I capture through the AJA I/O. The capture preset PAL setting has no apparent way to be sure that the field dominace is correct. The sequence setting preset instead has this possibility and I’ve set it to upper. Perhaps the material is being digitized incorrectly in the first place? But then again, if that were the case I’d see the red render bar in my sequences, which I don’t… so back too square one… I’m stumped. Any other ideas? I definetly have something set up improperly…

Thanks for this news. I really should check the AJA site and this forum more often. I’m still running the 2.1 version. Am I running any risks updating my I/O Driver mid project. I’ve already captured lots of media. I know I would never for example upgrade FCP mid project, but perhaps a driver upgrade is more transparent? Any advice?
    Thanks!

December 29, 2006 at 9:18 am in reply to: Which Version Of Boris FX should I use for Final Cut Pro?

    Hi Kevin
I purchased Boris FX8 and there are compatibilty issues that have been acknowleged by Boris support. If you do a search in this forum “Boris” you’ll find the answer and workaround that they suggested for me. There are political issues between Boris and Apple that will hopefully be worked out eventually, but be aware that there are problems. The workaround they offered me (practically to create filters and use them as transitions) – works off and on…It’s a shame because that would be a dynamite addition to FCP…
