Thanks Peter. I’ll recheck all settings again and try to duplicate the problem. I am working in SDI from DigiBeta, so upper all the way. I have Motion 2.1.2. Just out of curiosity, what do you work with as your project preset? I only see 1 preset for PAL (PAL DV Broadcast) in the drop down menu. I copied and edited it changing the field domnance to upper. It seems strange to me that there aren’t other options available.
I am referring to the “preferences then presents” window. That may be where my problem lies….
Thanks for your “PAL land” help.

Well, I DID follow the instructions (caps lock down, up…etc.) exactly as in the release notes. I have an email into Boris support (I’m in Europe)…. Glad it’s working for you…

Thanks to Walter, Lee and all. I was unaware that it was good practice to unmount the drives before shutting down. I’ll start doing that tonight.
    Cheers!

Don’t know if it’s related, but ever since I upgraded FCP Studio (5.1.2) BorisFX makes FCP crash every time I try to add a transition… I’m working under a deadline now so haven’t had time to persue the issue yet.
    Hope you problem gets solved.

It’s not right in FCP but if you have FCP Studio, I remember that Ripple training (www.rippletraining.com) did a great free tutorial called caffeinated text which sounds like the effect you’re after. It’s done with Motion. The tutorial deals with jittery text, but should work with an image as well. I just tried popping “caffeinated text tutorial”into google and it came right up as the first choice. Hope this helps.

I did just that a few months back and after an initial bump in the road had no problem at all. I think the EDL format that worked correctly was CMX 3400. If I remember right, the CMX 3600 format didn’t give me proper reel names… Sorry I can’t be more specific but I have no way of checking at present. Outputting as Sony 5000 reaasigns reel names (001,002…etc.) which is a “reel” pain! I remmber the audio levels tranferred ok but not the titles…Good luck!

That IS pretty wierd indeed. Must be a little bug we stumbled upon. I guess I’ll just keep sluggin’ away…

Thanks David. I value your advice. But with freeze frames, what could the problem be? Also I have NEVER gotten decent slow motion from FCP… I realize that that question can’t be addressed in a simple forum response. I promise I’ll keep studying!!
