My sequence and project settings all reflect the set-up I am working with (10 bit uncompressed PAL.) I am assembling a reel of segments that will be broadcast during a live program and am splitting up the segments up with 10 sec of slug between each edited piece. I just this minute noticed that the slug was looking a bit odd sizewise in the viewer window and low and behold when I look at its properties it says the pixel aspect is NTSC. How in the world did that happen? I might add that the first button in the upper part of the viewer window changes automatically from 88% to 105% when the slug is loaded into it. When I lay the slug in my timeline it looks fine – no render bars or anything. Am I going bonkers? Did I inadvertently change something? Is this an issue I should be worried about?

    Huh?

How strange… I always thought a slug was completely independent of any NTSC, PAL, aspect ratio, frame size etc…

I’ve just checked myself and you’re right though. I wouldn’t worry about it. That’s the first time I’ve actually looked at the properties of a slug in 6 years of using Final Cut. It’s probably just some default properties and doesn’t mean much… its still filling the screen I’m presuming? It tells me my slug is 720×480 and I’m working on a hi def project with it filling the screen!

That IS pretty wierd indeed. Must be a little bug we stumbled upon. I guess I’ll just keep sluggin’ away…
(Bad attempt at early morning humour…
    Thanks!
