  • Which Version Of Boris FX should I use for Final Cut Pro?

Posted by Kevin Jones on December 27, 2006 at 6:53 pm

    Greetings!
I am looking to purchase Boris FX for my Final Cut Pro system:

    2.5GHz Quad-core PowerPC G5
    4GB DDR533 NON ECC 4X1GB
    2X500GB Serial ATA-7200rpm
    16x SD DL(DVD-R/CD-RW)
    NVIDIA GF 6600 256 SDRAM
    Final Cut Studio 5.0.1

I have been hearing of some compatibility issues with Boris FX and Final Cut Pro.
I see there is a new version, 9, and an older version, 8.
Which would be best for my system and why?
Any suggestions and info is appreciated.
    Thanks

We have a Boris forum here on the Cow, I would post this query over there.

    Did that.
Thought I would spread my quest out over a couple of different forums.
    Thanks!

    Hi Kevin
I purchased Boris FX8 and there are compatibilty issues that have been acknowleged by Boris support. If you do a search in this forum “Boris” you’ll find the answer and workaround that they suggested for me. There are political issues between Boris and Apple that will hopefully be worked out eventually, but be aware that there are problems. The workaround they offered me (practically to create filters and use them as transitions) – works off and on…It’s a shame because that would be a dynamite addition to FCP…
