I can second this setup. I have it…with the 5 500 gig drives. Works perfectly…no problems.

UGH! Thanks, Bob. I was afraid of this. I think it’s past B&H’s 14 day return policy, but I’ll call and see what they’ll do. God knows I spend enough money there.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction…

If it’s the same as the inputs, the left most connector for the component connections is a composite out. Man, I wish they had a separate composite out and in…it’d be a perfect box! Still pretty close, as it is now.

April 8, 2006 at 11:29 pm in reply to: Review of the Sonnet E4P

Hooked up mine today with 5-500Gig drives. What an easy set up. I’ve never done a RAID/Array before and it was a snap. Sonnet has a really nice system between this new card and the Fusion box. I’ll have to do some speed tests this week, but man is it nice seeing a drive with 2.3 TB on it on my desktop.

Not sure I’ll ever max out the speed, as I work mostly in DVCProHD. So, it should be great for me.

    More later. Thx.

April 5, 2006 at 4:58 am in reply to: Workflow and HD field order

I’m not sure about others, but I’ve found some field jitter issues with HD converting to SD. I bring the finished HD reference (or full QT) movie into After Effects, interpret footage to upper field, then do a new SD comp and re-size it to fit. Then, I render it lower field. It seems to be a pretty good recipe for ensuring the field order is correct.

  • Thanks for responding, Kristian. I’m sending an email now with the attached screengrab. Can you please walk us through how to use the look up charts? There is nearly zero information on this. It does not seem to work for me. If I load one that saved, it doesn’t even call up the settings. I would love to just set up my Dell monitor to bars and leave it FOREVER. I can’t even seem to do this. Please advise…

Email on the way with screen grab of the red setting all goofy…which happens every time I open the app. I am using the latest 2.0.

    Thanks.

I take everything in via DVCProHD, but the downconvert works perfectly for me. Matter of fact, I love it. It’s so awesome to have realtime output to my SD monitor with a choice of letterbox, centercut or anamorphic, all while I’m watching the HD version right above it on my Dell monitor.

What a great setup the Kona LHe is…

Hope you get it working with HDV…

February 17, 2006 at 6:21 pm in reply to: Routers & D.A.’s Out of Kona-Suggestions?

“Actually you don’t need anything if you take your Kona feed to your Beta, loop the Beta out to your Monitor, loop that out to the Plasma.”

Thanks, but the beta component out is already going to the Kona. See? This is my dilemma. I may end up going with a patch bay, but was hoping to keep it very simple with a DA.

Anyone use that Laird product? Seems ideal IF the quality is good.

    Thanks!

I thought about this, but not sure I need an IO yet. I think a DA will work fine that has 4 outputs…I thnk the IO would only give me 1 more.

    Anyone else have thoughts?
