Okay, to avoid getting “crazy-bobbed,” 🙂 I purchased a Horita BH-50 to work with my beta deck to get rid of the horizontal moving line, sync issue.

I’m trying to set everything up to get the same sync signal, but am not sure I’m understanding it. I thought I’d be pulling the black output from the BG-50 unit to both the LHe Ref Loop AND then also to the beta deck. However, for playing a signal through the Beta, it requires a “Video In” in the BG-50. However however, when I put the composite out of the LHe into it, it now won’t capture into FCP properly! I’m obviously getting a loop or just thinking about this wrong.

Can anyone give me the setup to use? I also found an old Zelin post about needing a terminator on the LHe…is this still necessary and would it just go in the 2nd “Ref Loop” BNC?

    Thanks a lot!

    hi –
sorry, but you bought the wrong Horita box. You were supposed to buy the Horita BSG-50 (about $289), but you bought the cheaper BG-50 (about $219). The BSG-50 is a black generator – the BG-50 generates black once it is provided a composite video signal on it’s input – which you don’t have (unless you have a camera lying around that you can leave on for every edit session). The BG-50 generates 6 black outputs from a non genlocable composite source (like a camera on a studio shoot that you have to lock to).

Return it, and get the BSG-50.

UGH! Thanks, Bob. I was afraid of this. I think it’s past B&H’s 14 day return policy, but I’ll call and see what they’ll do. God knows I spend enough money there.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction…

Thats the best reason to buy from a local dealer, they know your face and they know what you have purchased, returns for errors like this are easier with someone that you work consistently.
