  • Anyone try Pipeline Digital’s Pro VTR control? It has always worked in the past.

It is always good to stripe your tape first, but like here there is never enough deck time to stripe tapes. We do a modified stripe process where we strip say the first 2 min of the tape starting with time code 00:58:30:00. Then we put the deck in regen, and assemble edit the show onto the tape. Works everytime.

If you set this up on a windows server 2003 you could do this. You can use a simple windows xp workstation and run the decklink with windows media encoder. You can then pitch it to the windows 2003 server running the streaming services. You can even take the one box approach if you have a T-1 or larger.

The PC stuff is OEM only. Check out there site for XENA they have 2 version XENA HS and XENA 2. Unfortunately they are not providing editing application drivers just system drivers. I have spoken to them on a number of occasions, and they say there are no plans to add editing app specific drivers.

Cineform is using the XENA HS card in there Prospect HD Product.
The now defunct In-Sync was using it in there speed razor app.

  • Not that it matters anymore, but I have a Kona/Xena SD board, and I can intercut DV, MJPEG, and uncompressed on the same timeline. This is on a PC editing app though. So I would say it is a software issue, because the hardware can do it with my software.

  • I recomend using a Tascam TM-D1000 mixxer. When I switched to an all SDI and AES/EBU solution I bought one from ebay. It is a discontinued mixxer , but it has great AES/EBU as well as SPDIF inputs and outputs. It will also convert to analog for you. I added one of those little converters from AJA to convert SDI to Component and Composite.

  • So here is the Design. Waveform, Vectorscope, RGB Parade, and Audio monitor with Phase indication. Build it in to the HD-Link, and make it controlable via USB and a Control panel. Each one could be full screen or quarter screen, and could be put in any quadrant.
