I should have made it clear that I am running the x86 32bit version. Sorry.
The only place I can think that the 64 bit version should make a difference is in a hi-en rendering event. I have 4GB RAM and a very fast graphics card.
It all works a heck of a lot faster than i can work.Sony will get there eventually.

Jerry,
Did you get your Vegas 8 to install and run on XP Pro 64?
I installed on my Intel 64 w/o any issues.
It must install into the Program files (x64) directory on system drive. In fact, I have not found any software that failed to install or operate.
I am running the latest SP and all updates.Let me know if i can help.

January 31, 2008 at 6:18 pm in reply to: How to shoot Black Background video? – with light only on the subjectI bought about a half a bolt of black felt-like cloth from a fabric store. It sucks up light big time. As this thread has suggested, I will move it further back and get an even blacker background.

Thanks Ed.
292 hours or minutes on a 500GB drive. Hmmm…
What’s really amazing is that this new 500GB SATA drive only cost $100. Damn near free!ken wood

Another way is to use MS MovieMaker (ugh!) as the capture software. Make sure you choose the AVI format. This only works with a Firewire 1384 connection.
Save as DV NTSC AVI.Ugly, but it works.

I didn’t make the video. If that is the best mpeg-2 put out it is pretty sucky.
I expect that the camera was pretty cheap as it blurred out on every shot that had motion in it.
The video was of motorcycles on a track. Camera guy was not very good and was always setup in the wrong position.BTW: if you want to convert formats download ffmpeg from Internet. It will convert anything to anything. It is command line (DOS) and take a while to get the commands right but works great. Do a Google on ffmpeg. You will find the Windows version and manual.

What is the format on the mini dvd from your cam?
I have small project that provided me with a wmv file. The resolution is not very good. Anything with motion is very blurry.
I just wondered if the mini-dvd cams allowed other formats, like AVI. -

December 7, 2007 at 3:59 pm in reply to: I just talked to Contour and have instructions here!Allen,
I figured it out! My main problem was that I don’t know Vegas well enough to know what commands I would use the most.
But, I’ve been using the Trimmer and the main keystrokes I use are the I(n) O(ut) and A(dd).
So now, my buttons 2-3-4 are set for I O A.
#1 is single mouse-click.
It just works.
I think I can expand it a bit for other keystroke commands using the Ctrl, ALT, Shift and combinations thereof.
i no longer even need the JKL sequence as the shuttle does it.
ciao,

As I try to use the Trimmer for all edits,
does it make sense for me to program buttons 2-3-4 for the Trimmer? I would want I (In) O (out) A (add)
Does the keystroke need a spacial character.
And, it feels like a Monday, again! -

Sorry to bother you but could you tell me what actions you have your main 5 buttons set to on your Shuttle?
I’m all set on the shuttle wheel.
I have buttons 1 thru 5 to set up.
Thanks,
