Probably if it is the same brand. It is the software part of the camera or firmware. Take it to a Best Buy and just ask for help.

If it doesn’t work you must put the miniDVD back in the camera and finalize the disk.

If you run Task Manager when Vegas is running how much available RAM do you have? It should show how much virtual, too.

My suspicion is that some other service is running and you are getting a bogus message.
Also, is the system recognizing all of the 4GB ram? Do My Computer rt click Properties | main page should show unless Bill changed it.
As I have not run Vista yet. I’m only guessing from my past expericene in XP.

Why don’t you search around on Annoyances.com. They get a lot of good techs participating in their discussions.

Let us know when you come up with a solution.

    Thanks, Ed.

I’ve already proved that the wmv is suckie as I played it on my DVD player. Near the end it just got real bad.

    So, mpg it is.

    Yes.
I’m not sure what the best format to choose but this seemed to come out pretty good on my test DVD.
I testing as a MPG, too.

I fed DVDA a .wmv file and let it “Prepare” it. The 6 hours time was bogus. It only took 1:45.

I find it interesting that we keep adding more and more horse power to our computing power but the software, as nice as it is, is not taking advantage of the added power.
    It is all IO bound.

As always, thanks for you help.

I’d change from Fat32 to NTFS no matter what. Are you sure the file is contiguous?
Are you logging any error? Check system error or application error. My Computer | Manage | Events | system or app

You need to come up with a big fat SATA drive to make your life easier. 250GBs are down to $65 on NEwEgg.

    One last item:
Doug and Ed are correct. Moving old analog anything to new digital is not as simple as we would like.
I think it is great that there are good products that help.
    Lots to learn…

    You win!
I just ordered the Canopus ADVC110 from NewEgg: $237 delivered.

My new PC is littered with 1394 ports.

Note that this Canopus product does not include a power supply which has PO’d a few users. It is a 5V DC and is optional @ $35.
    This thing must be great!
Cloud of sarcasm just flew over.

    Thanks Guys.
    I appreciate the help.
Boy, this is getting to be an expensive hobby. But what worthwhile hobby isn’t?

    Ed,
Here is more info. If I use GSpot to get info from captured tape here is what it details:

    File length correct-
    Multipart OpenDML AVI (4 parts)

    PCM Audio

    44100Hz 1411 kb/s tot (2 chnls)
    Codec YUY2 packed 4:2:2
    No codec required
    Pics/s 29.970 Frms/s 29.970

    pic w 320x 240

I a bit confused on this as everything looks ok. Is there a possibility that Vegas has a problem with a 4GB file?
