OK, I simply took the livetype matte as was, with no fill or matte in it, so it was filled with blue, as was it comes in Livetype…dragged it into my FCP edit, placed it on layer 3 (video on layer 1, BG matte with water on 2, blue matte on 3), and placed a png of my report paper on layer 4, and layer 5 has the livetype text. I added the travel matte ALPHA to report png on layer 4…it all works as I needed…thanks again.

Thanks for the reply – very helpful, so I’m going to do what you said, maybe use a png instead of psd file, see what happens.

Very helpful to know this about eye strain – if after 8-10 hours a monitor still looks good with little eye strain, it’s a good monitor!

Would love to hear from anyone who has experience with the BenQ 24″ as I’m trying to decide between the two – Apple 23″ or BenQ 24″…any color issues, dead pixel problems after a couple of months, etc…Thanks for replies.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I guess 8 gigs of RAM is not a bad thing to have.

Thanks very much for the time you took in helping with my var(ious) questions. Sounds like I’ll have to have a bit more $ if I want to edit this HD/HDV stuff. I did think though that maybe I could use FCP’s chroma key filter and that would work well on green screens, any thoughts?

Thanks for your workflow – but if I can do it in FCP why would I need/want to do it in any other app be it QT pro or Switch? Is there a quality difference?

I just did the conversion and I have a couple of ?’s…when I chose aiff from drop down menu (using batch export) it asked me for a different name which I gave it but it left it as mp3..then the second time I redid this, I typed in .aiff in place of the mp3 file extension and when it was done it came out as aifc(?) It does import into FCP fine, but what’s going on with the aifc and why did I have to type in aiff when it should have automatically gave it this file extension?

    Thanks
