If you are using DVD Architect just try using the FIT TO DISC option on the bottom left when you click on OPTIMIZE DISC

Try right clicking on the timeline clips and go to properties. Uncheck maintain aspect ratio.. Does that help?

The flickery strobey motion is probably a field reversal/interlacing issue. How are you capturing your video. It sounds like at one time you have gone from 480 to 486 and/or back again. This will cause that effect. What is your timeline sequence in final cut? Make sure you sequence in final cut is the same as your capture.

Export a prores file use Export…quicktime movie use current settings instead of the quicktime conversion. This will save you time if your timeline is already rendered to prores.
Then use compressor or quicktime pro to convert your master file to H.264. If you are just changing the size it should not take more than an hour or two to convert.

For distribution. try .mp4 h264 1280×720 at about 3000k. Unless you have a huge amount of motion it should look fine.If not try bumping it up to 4000k.

Use mpeg streamclip to convert the files to .dv files… It is important that you keep the dvd files at 480 interlaced and not bump them up to prores 486. You will end up with artifacts… Just edit everything in dvcpro. 720×480 sequence.
