  • I have had a problem like this before and thought it was a field issue but it wasn’t……… and this could be your solution. The Blackmagic uncompressed codec is 720 x 486. You are converting it to 720 s 480 for dv and dvd. Quicktime Pro and all mpeg compressors seem to squeeze the picture and reinterlace the entire picture. YOU MUST CROP 6 LINES OFF OF THE PICTURE BEFORE YOU COMPRESS IT. You can do this in most conversion programs such as Mainconcepts,Anystream, Cleaner etc …and Compressor on the Mac. Take 2 lines off the top and 4 lines off the bottom. This totally eliminated any frame jitter and interlacing artifacts I was having going to dvd. Even when converting to Pal from Ntsc or Pal to NTSC. Now my final product is flawless…Ken

I have been using a Samson Micro 32 UHF with the AT lav that came with it (from B & H). I thought twice about buying Samson but I am very happy with it.It is dual diversity. Both trans and reciever use 9 volt batteries and you have the option of switching to a large choice of channels in seconds..so you can use multiples. Batteries have lasted about 12 to 14 hours. Have used over 200ft with no problems. Cost $350.

I also switched from MSP7/8 to Vegas6. My mpeg conversions are done in Vegas6 or the stand alone MainConcepts encoder. I still prefer DVD Worshop to DVDA3. I have the workflow down so I am staying with it for now but still play around with DVDA3.
