  • Please suggest UHF Wireless Mic

I’ve considered VHF Wireless Mic’s but understand TV signals may interfer. (What frequency do wireless VHF mics use anyway?)

So, now I’m considering UHF mic’s. Hopefully with multiple channels.

I would like for the receivr to mount in the hot shoe of my cam.

I would like for the receiver to belt clip or mount inside a pocket…. also need to alternately be able to plug into a mixer or other device directly.

I would like one system that has both a clip on lavlier mic and also a hand held mic.

A second system may net need the handheld.

Actually we are considering buying 3 or 4 of these wireless mic systems.

Thanks for any suggestions on choices for good UHF mic systems.

    audio technica 100 series ..
before you buy any wireless .. look up in their frequency charts to see what frequency (channels) are free in your area ( and area’s you travel to) .. 58-60 .. 67-69

Where do I look up what freq’s are available in my area?

I’m not sure what freq the UHF wireless mic’s use.

Do they share with UHF TV or what?

And, I decided on UHF over VHF because I was worried about 1) interference and 2) interference because we may be using 4 to 6 wireless mic’s at once in the same studio.

    thanks for any additional comments.

Depending on the cash at hand you could go with Lectrosonics. Simply the best (also the most $$$) The ATs and Azden 500s are very good units as well. I’ve been using 2 of the Azden 500 for over 4 years and have never had a problem even when faced with 5 or so other vid guys shooting a breaking news event or news conference. Of course we all run around and check each others freqs but with 63 user changable freqs (easily changed) its never been a problem.

Dont know your price bracket but…
    around the $500 ballpark.
sennheiser g2-100 series has alot of options
    great feature set.
the included ME4 cardiod mic is well known and good sounding
there is a kit that has lav transmitter as well as the handheld plug-on.
    Reciever.

1440 user selectable freq’s or something ridiculous like that.
also has the cables to connect the reciever directly to a mixer .
I did research for that price bracket and thats what I came up with. Never ended up buying anything but did the research.
    Good luck

I have been using a Samson Micro 32 UHF with the AT lav that came with it (from B & H). I thought twice about buying Samson but I am very happy with it.It is dual diversity. Both trans and reciever use 9 volt batteries and you have the option of switching to a large choice of channels in seconds..so you can use multiples. Batteries have lasted about 12 to 14 hours. Have used over 200ft with no problems. Cost $350.
