November 8, 2007 at 10:00 pm in reply to: What to do? Switch to Vegas?

I still use media studio pro8. Corel customer service told me they are dropping it. I had already switched to vegas about 2 years ago. Use vegas 8 mostly with some help from msp8. There are still a few things that msp8 does quite well so it still generates income. At work I use MSP8,Premiere PRO CS3, Final Cut and Vegas.. .. Vegas is a great system to switch to.. You’ll figure it out.

October 10, 2007 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Archiving footage to burn later to Bluray or HD DVD…

You should be able to leave the files in the HDV file format. They will play if you burn them to an HD dvd disc(or hd dvd formatted standard disc) and you can still use them to edit. So you can watch and archive the same file. They should also play on blue ray but most of the blue ray software out there right now wants to re render… K

  • If you are editing 720×486 you must crop 2 lines off the top and 4 lines off the bottom before you create your mpeg2 at 480. If you can’t crop in vegas then output an uncompressed file at 486 and drop it into mainconcepts or another mpeg encoder and crop out the 2 lines on top and 4 lines on the bottom.

April 15, 2007 at 12:53 pm in reply to: Persistant DVD Playback Issue – Big Mystery!!

i would think he needs to lower his bitrate for video.. Almost always the issue when you cannot control the quality of the playback hardware. 7mbts variable works quite well in most players.

i figured it out… I used ulead dvd moviefactory6 plus and burned an hddvd to a standard dvd. You can get 30 minutes
of video … It plays perfectly in the Toshiba HD DVD player for $388.00 you can program it to autostart and loop.. Problem solved. I hope sony catches up.

February 27, 2007 at 9:39 pm in reply to: how to bypass conforming audio

I am editing uncompressed,Black Magic Codec. There is no matching the audio bit rate… PP2 will conform the audio to 36 bits no matter what you input (capture is already 36 bit so there is no problem) and there appears to be no way to cancel this. There is no way to adjust the audio edit parameters either. At this point I cannot edit or output the final file due to the fact that Premiere Pro has to finish conforming before it will free the processors.Performance is very bad until PP2 is finished conforming the audio to 36 bits and the clients keep asking “What are we waiting for” and “Am I being charged for this?”…Km

I think I found it under properties..I was confused because under preferences/preview it has you select only one region at a time…. Thanks.

My version comes up with the region flag for region 1 already checked and I can only choose another region but cannot shut it off. This should be that you have to assign a region and can only assign one region at a time? Is there something I am missing?

You are correct. QT7 is something that should be avoided at all costs.

I have been using ONTRACK DATA RECOVERY standard edition for about 2 years. Works great if the drive will spin. Made me a hero many times. Will not work with serial drives hooked up to your computer..
