What BM products have you had a problem with? I have been using them since the very beginning and if a problem popped up I sent them an email or called the us office and the problem was resolved. Premiere CS4 has always been rock solid on capture and playback.. but that was on a computer with nothing else on it so it was under the best circumstances.

You can always get a handy free program called MEDIA INFO..
just drag any file into it and it gives you all the media info.

I had read that the backfocus issue is a problem with some NX5U cameras. I was considering a purchase.. would be very interested in Sony’s reply.

you may want to download a free program such as Mediainfo and drop the .mxf file in it to confirm the use of the avid codec. It may be DVCPROHD,which would require a codec from Raylight. Did he create this file on a mac? I have had some problems importing .mxf files created on a mac.

The DNXHD codec is for HD. You should be able to us Avid Meridian compressed or uncompressed for SD.

Some ProRes files for some reason will not import if the source is an external drive. You might try copying it to an internal drive.

If you unzipped it and installed it..You should be able to output an
avid DNXHD .mov quicktime when you go to render output in vegas.

Vegas production assistant does good batch transcoding.
    Maybe mpeg streamclip

  • You can always create a .mp4 in Vegas.. Then just change the file extension from .mp4 to .mov… It will play in the quicktime player and will read as a quicktime .h264 quicktime.

Final Cut always had a nice little feature. When you drag a clip to the right a menu will pop up with options .. drop in with cut / dissolve/
replace clip etc. Might be kind of handy if they would put some icons on a pop up menu.
