It seems that many have had issues with IO cards working with CS5.5 but what about CS6? Any beta testers try out Aja and Blackmagic cards yet? I’ve only used AJA with FCP7 and that combo is about perfect. Not so much with PPro. I need seamless connectivity with external devices and if I can’t get it I’m concerned. What do you all think about how this will work with new PPro cs6?

Im very familiar with Adobe Transmit. It means you can use just regular Adobe sequences (CUDA and all) and get HD SDI play out thru AJA, BM or Matrox hardware into an engineering monitor or tape machine. Adobe provided a hook for third party vendors to their video stream thus allowing a simpler and more stabile way to send video out to their hardware. It suffers from none of the issues users had with previous version of CS Premiere. Final drivers still pending, but then again CS6 hasnt been released yet. 😀

I can confirm CS6 works with even a very old black-magic multibridge extreme
with the just released 9.5 driver.

    your Lh-i should work fine.

I got word today that AJA will not be offering a CS 6 driver for the now “legacy” LH-e I have in my edit 2 suite, so I’ll be trading that out for a Decklink card, to have the added ability
    of Resolve lite.

Yep, same here. Lhe is dead to me now. That kind of sucks because the hardware is still perfectly good. AJA is just obsoleting a piece of perfectly good and capable hardware. They could easily update the driver with a few lines of code. “If CS6 then = yes”, easy!

AJA are the new Matrox, just run away and go Black Magic.

I understand why you are not happy about the Lhe. But personally I would never buy anything from BMD. Their products are not as well constructed and their customer / tech support is not even close to what AJA offers. Obsolescence is just a part of life.

What BM products have you had a problem with? I have been using them since the very beginning and if a problem popped up I sent them an email or called the us office and the problem was resolved. Premiere CS4 has always been rock solid on capture and playback.. but that was on a computer with nothing else on it so it was under the best circumstances.

Ken, I think the frustration they are expressing is becuase AJA has EOL the LHe.

Well I have two needs. I also want to use Davinci Reslove Lite and monitoring wont work with Aja so I need to make a choice which card will do both and it looks like the Decklink card is the choice. Now I need to figure out the right one.

Customer service is excellent from Aja. As for Blackmagic. Many years ago I had a card that was defective and they replaced it with no issues, so I cant say they are hard to work with.

    my experience as well.

often times though an email sent to BMD goes unanswered. Nothing a call wouldn’t take care of.

Fortunately they make better products now than they did 6 years ago.

We’re talking about a company that owns Davinci & Teranex….they are about quality now.

Eric the Decklink Studio with analog options should work well for you and can be found
    on ebay for $ 300 – $ 500

I’d love to have a Kona 3 but my need for high quality down-scaling is now gone thanks
to the Adobe suite offering high quality downsizing. I’d also have to spend a lot more
for a Kona than a Decklink…something I wasn’t expecting I would have to do any time soon
until the LH-E was suddenly obsoleted. I do understand products have a lifecycle, but BMD
still made a cs 6 driver for the very obsolete multibridge-extreme I still use.

The LH-E is much younger and still capable. I find it unfortunate I have to remove it now.
