Go here: User Preferences / General / Audio Playback Quality

You might try the “Medium” or “High” setting.

Will the DVDs play in a regular home DVD player or in the DVD player on your computer?
I can’t count how many DVD-Rs I have received from clients that won’t play because they have been mistreated by the client- i.e. scratches, fingerprints, never kept in a case, etc.

[Sutharsan Bala] “Btw, I read somewhere that copying your material to your hard-drive and then ingesting them in FCP may help. Try it if you haven’t already.. :)”

Yep – tried it. See my original post.

The Canon VIXIA HFS100 only has USB.
I have even tried not using the camera and importing from a card reader without any luck.

After making sure that your patching is correct, check here:
    Apple Menu/System Preferences/Blackmagic/Settings Tab/Set Output (needs to be on Y, R-Y, B-Y)

    I’m with you Jon.

Almost every day on this forum I see a post from someone asking “how do I get my HD footage to look good on an SD-DVD.” and there is usually a response from someone saying “this question gets asked all the time, but here’s a link with instructions.”

I gotta tell you that I think have tried everything that has been posted on these forums but STILL cannot get my HD footage to look decent on an SD-DVD. It ALWAYS has weird “interlacing” or “field order” artifacts. My associates tell me I am being too picky and that nobody but me will ever notice it, but it drives me crazy.

I bought Innobits Bitvice software and it dramatically reduces the amount of artifacts – but it is STILL present. I also own Video Purifier but have not yet tested it for scaling HD to SD.

When you edit HD clips into an SD sequence FCP should automatically add a “Shift Fields” filter.
Do your clips have this filter?

Have you rendered the HD clips? HD clips in an SD timeline always look terrible unless they are fully rendered.

Wouldn’t that require the venue to have an HD projector and a 16X9 screen?
