John, thanks for the info. Is that a really quiet system? My current NLE system is loud with all the cheap fans. My office Dell however makes no noise at all. The only indication it is on is the power LEDs. And that box looks like it has the same quick-snap HDD slider trays for quick HDD swapping.

Colin, yeah, I wouldn’t attempt to build my own nowadays. Too many headaches for me and don’t have the time. And I don’t want to be sold Ferrari when I really only need a Lexus.

OK, the Sony CAMERA is set to record HDV 1080i. The tape I’m trying to capture into Vegas was shot in 720p. Camera unknown. Is there a 3rd party capture tool that will capture this 720p?

Steve, did just that. Not putting it on Vegas at all. Just want a titler that actually works n a professional level.

Thanks John. I figured that was the case. It’s never a cheap upgrade.

June 7, 2012 at 5:11 pm in reply to: DVDA Hangs at 99% Will Not Finish

Can’t get a screen shot due to the time required because DVDA takes a very long time to encode M2T files. And the screenshot would only show 99% completed with 1 second to go and the clock still running.

My old workflow was bringing in the final M2T rendered project to DVDA and let DVDA encode to fit to disk. Why not encode to MPG within Vegas? When I first started with Vegas, encoding an MPG in Vegas then processing in DVDA for disk image, the ending DVD quality was crap. Strobing images, interlace line shifting. Just undeliverable. So I tried letting DVDA do the rendering and the results were 100% better. But it took 4 to 6 hours to process.

That was in Vegas 8, 9 and 10. In Vegas 11 I returned to try encoding MPGs and the results so far seemed to be up to the quality you expect on standard DVDs.

So in this current project/test, after I created my disk image in DVDA using the MPG file, I swapped it out for the M2T file to compare. That’s where DVDA hung up at the end trying to render menu page 3 which never existed in the first place.

Good point. Once I can get this MOBO upgrade thing figured out, I should be able to take advantage of all that V11 offers.

I am rendering out to a file. Not to disk.

June 4, 2012 at 9:32 pm in reply to: Vegas Pro 11 to DVDA ???

The problem seems to be that V11 doesn’t like working with “game” graphics card like my GTX450 if GPU is ON! V11 really want to see a “professional” card like the Quadro 4000. If I turn OFF the GPU, V11 will render MPG-2s. Turn it ON and V11 will crash.

So it appears that V11 really doesn’t do much more than 10e unless you have a high end graphics card.

BTW my machine does not have a heat problem. Thanks for the tips.
