When I first built my system I had AJA installed, and never got it working. After talking with the AJA folks, it seems they’re all about Mac; couldn’t tell me much about a Windows system.

Replaced it with BMD and all is well.

Hey Aubrey,

I suspect you’re fine, and it sounds like you did everything right. If it looks as it should after re-selecting non-square pixel on the event when you check it on your timeline, you should be good.

I say this, also, because this is a classic issue that stations are used to seeing, and (unless there’s a complete moron in the play-to-air department) they’ll know the adjustment to make if it looks incorrect on their end. You can even include a note for them to make sure they use non-square PAR.

Can’t wait for SD to disappear altogether…

I’d like to hear the answer to this as well, because masking is one of the few HUGE disappointments I have with Vegas.

Because…

(1) I still can’t believe there aren’t some default basic shapes available, and

(2) I don’t think masks should be “content” based at all, but “effects” based. Meaning, “mask the defocus effect” or “mask the glow”, not “mask content that has been defocused or glowed and then duplicate the track and comp it over the original.”

I put in a feature request about this ages ago, beeteedub.

Don’t be embarrassed… these forums are perfect for saving face.

It sounds to me like you might have a look at “Stretch to Fill” on the Pan/Crop window. I have a hunch you want to “No” that.
