    Hi Marc,

Thanks for your speedy reply. I’ve added the transitions to the RAW 2K footage so ill try bringing it into Resolve and see if they work.

    Thanks!

    Hi Chris,

Yes Premiere 2015 can handle it- but its definitely jittery and slow at 1/8th. Luckily its a 30 second charity job edit so nothing extremely fast paced and effect heavy.

It seems crazy that it would take so long to transcode! I’ll keep searching for an alternative solution.

    Thanks,
    Kelly

  • Hi Tero,

    The footage is stored on a G-Technology G-DRIVE 2TB USB 3.0 & FireWire 800 Desktop Hard Drive

    Hi Dennis,

I’m working on a Macbook Pro Retina, with a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB of memory and a
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB Graphics card.

I use Premiere CC which is up to date, along with FX Factory Pro. Maybe I need more RAM?

    Nevermind, I figured it out.

Someone had adjusted the ISO within the source settings to 1600. I brought them back down to 400 and now it looks fine.

Thanks for the help. I’ll speak to the DIT and find out what needs to be done, and send a follow up comment for anyone who is interested.

Thanks Shane. Apologies for my ignorance, but are you refering to DaVinci Resolve? As in the Phantom MXF files can be brought straight into DaVinci?

If this is the case, then I guess I could tell the DIT to transcode everything to proress 422, 1080p to save space on the drive and then color grade the raw MXF files…do you agree?

Great, thanks this is really helpful!

Just one question. When you say don’t overlap SFX, I have a few shots which have classroom noises on a7, and then crying underneath that on a8. Is this okay?
